The Short Hills Garden Club is working with Louis Bauer, Director of Horticulture, Greenwood Gardens, and Town Forester Tom Doty to protect and enhance the environment by planting young oak trees around the township. These are "heirloom" trees with special significance to the township: the seedlings were collected and propagated by the Club from the historic White Oak tree on Great Oak Drive.

2010-03-17T09:48:31-04:00 Short Hills Garden Club Members of the Short Hills Garden Club (L-R) Geralyn Hagemann and Linda Nortillo with Louis Bauer of Greenwood Gardens display tree seedlings to be propagated from the historic White Oak tree on Great Oak Drive. http://millburn.patch.com/announcements/samuel-needs-your-vote-3 SAMUEL NEEDS YOUR VOTE! 2010-03-16T18:47:32-04:00 Janina http://millburn.patch.com/users/janina

We have two days left! Please click on link and vote for Samuel, #41903 for his chance at a $100K scholarship! THANK YOU! Sage was an alumna of the Ethel Walker School, Simsbury, Connecticut and attended Colby College.

Sage was married in 1952 to Trevor Lewis-Jones of Boonton NJ, and became a resident of Orange, Maplewood, and Millburn NJ for many years.

Sage received a LPN degree in 1965 and was a nurse by profession. She volunteered in Orange Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in the late 1960's, the South Orange Rescue Squad throughout the 1970's, and was a founding member of Maplewood's First Aid Squad. While volunteering with the "squads" Sage responded to thousands of calls for service – all with caring and compassion, while at the same time keeping husband and children well cared for with her dry sense of humor. While a typical Connecticut Yankee (you know what they're like) she at many times gave a very fine dinner party for friends, of which there were many.

In 1982 Sage moved to Millburn, NJ where she became a well-known and familiar usher at the Paper Mill Playhouse while she also worked for Overlook Hospital. She also had been an active member of the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills.

In 2008 Sage (she never used the name Clarinda) moved to Kansas City to be near son David and his family. Sage leaves her sister, Mary and brother-in-law Bill Stewart of St. Louis MO; her son David and "favorite" daughter-in-law Gwen Lewis-Jones of Lenexa, KS; her daughter Donna and son-in-law Michael Meyer of Minneapolis, MN, and three grown grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Annie Lewis-Jones.

Sage was a remarkable woman, with a determined, no nonsense personality. The world is a better place for her sense of duty and involvement and we will miss her. A memorial service will be held at a later date on her beloved Block Island RI. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the South Orange Rescue and/or Maplewood First Aid Squads.

2010-03-14T14:50:00-04:00 http://millburn.patch.com/announcements/john-joseph-weir-86-longtime-mhs-science-teacher John Joseph Weir, 86, Longtime MHS Science Teacher 2010-03-14T13:19:46-04:00 Millburn-Short Hills Patch

John Joseph Weir of Sarasota, FL, retired from the Millburn High School faculty, died on Feb. 24 at home.
