Anne Harrington Davenport, 94, Paper Mill Playhouse Supporter

  • Survived by: Edwin and Peter Davenport, and Nancy Rubens, children, and spouses; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Anne Harrington Davenport, a longtime Springfield resident, died in Toms River on June 15. Harrington grew up in Bloomfield and Ridgewood, and graduated from New Jersey College for Women (now Douglass College, Rutgers University) in 1938. She later studied at the New York University School of Retailing and became a buyer at Macy's in New York. She married the late Edwin G. Davenport and settled in Springfield in 1947. Davenport was active in the community as president of the PTA, Women's Club, and League of Women Voters. She also volunteered for the Red Cross and, before retiring, worked at the Summit Medical Group for over 20 years. Davenport enjoyed golfing and swimming and supported the Paper Mill Playhouse.
