John Smith Ware III, 93, Formerly of Short Hills

John Smith Ware III of Hackettstown died on Nov. 4, 2009. He was 93. Ware lived his entire life in Short Hills until 1996, when he retired to Heath Village in Hackettstown with his wife. He graduated from the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics and Newark College of Engineering. Ware became a professional engineer and, during World War II, built airplanes for Fairchild Aircraft. He later worked at Picatinny Arsenal and had a private practice as a consulting engineer for many years. Ware was a deacon at Wyoming Presbyterian Church and a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a charter member of the Picatinny Toastmasters Club, and a member of the Millburn Old Guard. In Hackettstown, Ware was program chairman of the Heath Village Tuesday Evening Club and an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church Men's Club.
