Malvina Arkus, 82, Worked at Paper Mill Playhouse

Malvina Arkus of Mountainside died Aug. 15 at home. She was 82. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Arkus settled in Mountainside in 1966. A single mother, she obtained a graduate education in psychology and social work and was a counselor at Union County Children's Shelter for more than 30 years. In her later years, Arkus' love of the theater inspired her to become an usher at the Paper Mill Playhouse. She was a member of Temple Emanuel of Westfield, Hadassah, First Baptist Church, Widow & Widowers, Mountainside Swim Club, Kean University Alumni, and Pace University Coffee and Conversation. She regularly volunteered as a poll worker in Mountainside.
