Bakery Could Come to Downtown Millburn
The owners of Montclair-based Gina's Bakery have proposed to open a retail shop in the former Signal Graphic space.
Residents who want a bakery in downtown Millburn may soon get their wish.
The owners of Gina's Bakery in Montclair have filed an application with the Planning Board to move into the space recently vacated by Signal Graphics at 358 Millburn Ave. Signal Graphics has moved to South Orange.
The new bakery would be called Crust and Crumb and would only be a retail location. No baking would be done in the Millburn shop. All of it would be done in Montclair.
The township planning staff is reviewing the application to deem it ready to be reviewed by the Planning Board. No hearing date has been set, although it could happen on March 17.
Gina's Bakery is one of the vendors at the Millburn Farmers Market each summer. They make artisan-style baked goods including sweets and assorted breads. The bakery has been named one of the best in the state by New Jersey Monthly for three straight years.

I've been a customer since Gina herself ran it as Gina's Panaficio. This is the rare business that didn't drop off in quality when the original owner departed, but improved with widened offerings. The brioche toasts are great, and the cheddar and parmesan scones rock.

Those pictures are KILLING me. I've never tasted any of their goods, but I can't wait to visit the store when it opens.

Jen,
There is already a bakery in downtown Millburn!
I suggest you go over to Bellas and try the cookies or cupcakes, they are incredible. And to be fair, you should change your first line to "Residents who want ANOTHER bakery in downtown Millburn may soon get their wish."

I adore Bella's Bakery. I did a piece on them a year ago. I'm a big fan of the cinnamon cupcakes.
The lede in my story comes from the business survey. One of the top things people wanted downtown was a bakery.
