Brooklyn Men Arrested for Credit Card Fraud
Also, police make shoplifting arrests at the mall and investigate car damage.
Two Brooklyn men were arrested on a warrant for alleged credit card fraud last week.
Antonio Llopiz, 21, and Brandon T. Carter, 21, were arrested for an incident on Jan. 15 at Saks Fifth Avenue. Llopiz was charged with fraudulent use of credit cards and credit card theft, and Carter was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of credit cards and two counts of credit card theft.
In January, Millburn police were called to Saks Fifth Avenue at the Mall at Short Hills on a report of credit card fraud at the store. The investigation lead to the arrest warrants for the two men. Police said Llopiz used a stolen credit card to obtain merchandise valued at $267.50 and Carter used a stolen credit cards in an attempt to obtain merchandise valued at $575. Both men surrendered themselves at police headquarters where they were charged and released.
Livingston Man Arrested After Car Crash
A Livingston man was arrested after a car crash on Short Hills Avenue on Friday. Hector Cardona, 39, was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving. Police said he hit a tree on Short Hills Avenue near Millburn Avenue.
Police Investigate Mall Thefts, Make Arrests
Police investigated several thefts and made two arrests at the Mall at Short Hills last week.
On Friday, police arrested Katarzyna Surawska, 32, of Harrison and charged her with shoplifting. She is accused of concealing merchandise valued at $75 in her bag and exiting Sephora.
On Thursday, a Maplewood resident reported someone removed her wallet from her purse, removed her credit and debit cards and placed the wallet back in her purse while she was shopping at the Mall at Short Hills. Police believe the theft happened between 6:30-7:30 p.m. Police said the victim was alerted to fraudulant charges on her account when the bank called to question multiple charges.
On Wednesday, police arrested Patricia C. Wilson, 18, of Irvington and charged her with shoplifting for an incident at Coach. She is accused of shoplifting two key chains with a combined value of $92.
Cars Damage Reported to Police
Police are investigating damage to two parked cars last week.
On Thursday, a Madison resident reported someone broke the rear window of her vehicle while it was parked in the lot in the shopping plaza for Panera Bread on Morris Turnpike. Nothing was reported missing. Police believe the incident happened between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Also on Thursday, a Exeter Road resident reported someone scratched the length of the driver's side door of a vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. Police believe the incident happened between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and 6:45 a.m. on Thursday.
Wallet Reported Stolen at Walgreens
A Summit resident reported her wallet was stolen at Walgreens on Morris Turnpike on Wednesday.
She started to leave the parking lot when she realized her purse was still in the shopping cart. She returned to find her wallet was missing from her purse. It contained credit cards, gift cards and $300 in cash. Police believe the incident happened between 3:40-4 p.m.
