Business Owners to Host Networking Meeting
The Right Track chapter of BNI wants prospective new members to join them for breakfast.
Local business owners and entrepreneurs are inviting members of the public to a networking breakfast meeting Wednesday, July 25, at 7 a.m. at Casa Colombo, 189 Main Street in Millburn.
The group is the Right Track chapter of Business Networking International, which is made up of 20 business people who meet weekly in order to help grow their businesses through networking and referrals.
The Millburn chapter has been around for three and a half years and, according to its president, Carl Ebneth, has generated over $3 million in business for its members.
“There are a lot of good professionals in the group,” said Ebneth, “and they work really hard to help each other.”
Ebneth described the meetings as relaxed but formal. Members arrive a little before 7 a.m. to eat breakfast and converse. Each meeting has a speaker and the rest of the group is able to participate and discuss their goals, what they might need help with and if they are hiring new staff.
Mingling, he said, is crucial to the success of the group.
“It’s good to come to a meeting,” said Ebneth. “Everything is on personality and relationships. If you can get along with people and you enjoy them, then you’re going to want to work with them. You’re going to want to learn more and grow and it’s going to help your business. That’s [the same with] anything in life.”
The group is made up of a variety of professionals, including a doctor, an accountant, a lawyer and some retailers, according to Ebneth, who is a financial planner.
After attending a meeting, anyone seeking membership must be sponsored by another member of the group, then provide two professional references.
“We want to make sure that you are ethical, honest and people get along with you,” said Ebneth.
The group meets each Wednesday morning, but they will also have an open event July 31, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Moonshine Modern Supper Club. Entry is $20 and includes hors d’oeuvres and, the opportunity to network with other businesses.
