Cartooning Workshop Teaches the Basics at Library
Maplewood resident Rick Parker shows the basics to teens.
Rick Parker has had his cartooning work published in the New York Times or by Marvel Comics, and he brought those skills to the Millburn Public Library Wednesday. The Maplewood resident showed a group of middle school-aged kids the basics in how to draw a cartoon person, which he said was one of the most important things to learn in cartooning. Among other things, he showed them how to make their characters show different types of emotions through their eyes and other facial features.

It was my pleasure meeting with and speaking to the group of young people and several adults present about the art of cartooning and comics. Perhaps some of them may even want to continue their cartooning studies at Geralyn's Art Studio in the heart of Maplewood where I conduct classes every week. Please call Geralyn 973-275-1966 for registration! Thanks!!--Rick Parker (the guy with the hat)
