Christ Church Hosts Successful Rummage Sale
Residents buy bric-a-brac, clothing, furniture and more in support of church and local charities.
Local residents braved the rain Saturday morning to get great deals at the Christ Church Rummage Sale in Short Hills. Customers were also supporting the church, which will direct the proceeds toward their Youth Group and Senior Ministries.
“The donated items are from parishioners and friends of the church,” said Peggy Baggaley, co-chair of the annual event. “It takes a whole church to do this kind of sale. We have senior citizens, teens and middle school kids all working together. Everyone worked really hard on this.”
Patrons had their pick of everything from furniture, artwork, linen and appliances to electronics, books, kitchenware, clothes, toys and more. Making use of both floors, the church used its parish hall, choir room, Sunday school classroom and other rooms to house all the donated items. Many visitors left the church carrying bags of items and loaded their cars with furniture and other products. According to Baggaley, the remaining items will be donated to the Lupus Foundation, Valley Settlement House and schools in Orange and Elizabeth.
