Cocoa, Story and Hiking at the Arboretum

Wrestling and hockey in action, Far Brook has tours, there's yoga at the county environmental center and kindergarten registration is coming.

 

1. It's another Hot Cocoa Day at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum at 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. Kids who attend will hear a story while drinking hot cocoa before heading out for a hike. The session is $15 per child. Call 973-376-3587 for more information.

2. On the sports schedule, the wrestling team takes on East Side Newark at 4 p.m. at Millburn High School. The ice hockey team plays Nutley at 6:45 p.m. at South Mountain Arena.

3. Far Brook School will be holding a small group tour for those interested in attending the school on Friday at 8-10:30 a.m. Registration is required at 973-379-3442.

4. Head to the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland for yoga on Friday at 9:30-10:45 a.m. The session is $10 and you need to bring your own mat. Registration is required, which can be done by calling 973.228.8776.

5. Kindergarten registration is scheduled for Jan. 19 and Jan. 20 at each of the school district's elementary schools at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. In the event of snow, registration will be held on Jan. 25. In order to be registered for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1. Parents should register their child at the school at which he will attend and should bring an official birth certificate, two proofs of residency and the child' s current immunization record for the school nurse.
