Do You Want Livingston Taking Over Millburn Dispatch? [POLL]

Vote in the poll and tell the community what you think.

In the past week Millburn officials announced Livingston possibly taking over Millburn Police's dispatch. If approved, the township is estimating it will start in early 2013.

Although township officials said they have not yet voted on the matter, six Millburn dispatchers said they were told two months ago they are losing their jobs starting Jan. 1, 2013.

The township said the proposal is in a subcommittee with committee members Ted Burke and Tom DcDermott, Mayor Sandra Haimoff said. Also, the subcommittee meets with the police chief and fire representatives who give their reports on the proposal.

Haimoff said there will be a public hearing on the issue with a full presentation during the September Township Committee Meeting.

Tell the community what you think before the public hearing.

That's ridiculous, Having worked in Loss Prevention in the Short Hills Mall having Livingston try to cover both malls would be ridiculous and wouldn't allow the proper channels for the MPD to do the excellent work they have always done in supporting the security in the mall let alone everything else. This is a horrible idea.

I only work in town, but why on earth would it be a GOOD idea to dispatch from somewhere else??! I'd prefer to be able to call 911 and have someone know where I am if I need help as fast as possible!..

Apparently the Fire chief makes a lot of decisions within the town. I'd like to know why as well. Hopefully they'll talk about keeping the police dispatchers where they are and talk about relinquishing Summit's services so fire can be dispatched within our own town hence SAVING MORE MONEY!! Instead of shelling out money to another town, money that could be used within the town, money that could be used to buy the fire department's expensive snow plow.

Because Mike Robert’s is so far up Tim Gordon’s rear side it will make you sick. If you are ever driving past Town Hall you can see how often Mike is parked hanging out with Tim or how often Tim parks illegally his town car behind the firehouse hanging out with Mike.
Two miserable, self-serving people. But the Township Commitee does NOTHING.

For a shared dispatch system is the priority for handling dispatch communication assignments on a first call, first received/response basis or are the primary (main tax paying for the "host" township) residents given any sort of priority? My main concern is in the event of natural disaster or multiple, simultaneous occuring events.
