Man Dies in Fiery Crash Fleeing Alleged Rape Attempt

A man who tried to sexually assault a woman in Fort Lee died in a fiery wreck early Tuesday after he fled on the Palisades Interstate Parkway and crashed into a tree, authorities said.

Jefferson Woman's Murderer Gets 40-Year Sentence

Demetrius Diaz-Bridges was sentenced on Friday to 40 years in prison for the murder of Elizabeth O’Brien on Jan. 30, 2008 at her Nolan’s Point Road Home. Diaz-Bridges was convicted of beating the woman to death with a dumbbell.

Hunt Is On For Killer Of Cab Driver

A 49-year-old cab driver and married father of three was gunned down in Newark early Saturday, authorities said.

Emergency workers responded shortly before 4am to 604 Mt. Prospect Ave. for what was originally believed to be a traffic accident in which a taxi had struck several parked cars, authorities said.

Christie Snaps at Jersey Shore Heckler

For the second time in a week, the governor lost his cool in public. This time, Christie was on vacation in Seaside Heights when he was caught on video lashing out at a passerby who apparently made a derisive remark about his education policies.

Toms River Murder Suspect Arrested in Florida

A man charged with criminal homicide for a stabbing murder in a Toms River apartment complex was arrested Monday on a fugitive warrant in Orange County, Fla.

Couple Rushing Baby To Hospital Strikes Teen

A Millburn teenager was in critical condition Thursday after she was struck by the car of a Springfield couple rushing their baby to the hospital, police said.

Millburn's first aid squad transported the teenager to University Hospital in Newark, where she is in critical but stable condition, Millburn Police Capt. Michael Palardy said.

The 18-year-old, who will be a senior at Millburn High School in the fall, was hit in front of the Haagen-Dazs on Millburn Ave. at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Randolph Teen Killed By Box Truck

An 18-year-old Randolph resident has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a furniture store box truck Saturday morning on Route 10 in Randolph that shut down the roadway for about a mile in both directions for several hours, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

The victim has been identified as Brian Smith, according to Capt. Jeffrey Paul, a spokesman for Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi.
