Firefighters Extinguish Small Car Fire

There were no injuries in a small car fire on Hobart Avenue on Sunday night, according to a fire department report.

Firefighters responded to the call at just after 7 p.m.  to find a 2008 Dodge Charger with New York plates sitting on the side of the road.

The report states the driver said he saw flames under the hood and smoke came into the vehicle. Firefighters did not find any fire under the hood, the report said, but they found a small fire in the truck because of the battery and fuse box.

No Injuries in Car Accident

There were no injuries in a Parsonage Hill car accident on Sunday, but the telephone pole was leaning across the road, according to a department report.

Firefighters responded to the accident near the Livingston border at about 3:40 p.m. A car had hit the telephone pole, but the driver was not injured and refused medical assistance, according to the report.

The telephone pole was leaning over the lane of traffic, the report said, and police stayed on scene until Jersey Central Power & Light workers arrived.

Firefighters and Police Investigate Pulled Alarms

Firefighters and police responded to three pulled fire alarms on Friday and Sunday, but there was no signs of problems at those locations, according to fire department reports.

Someone pulled an alarm at 249 Millburn Ave. on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The same box was pulled on Friday at just after 11 p.m. Also on Friday, someone pulled an alarm at 434 Millburn Ave., which is where school district offices are located, at just after 10 p.m.

In all three incidents, firefighters found a box pulled upon arrival but no one at the location, according to the reports. Police were called to the scene to file a report and no problems were found.
