JFK Accident Sends One to the Hospital

The accident also shut the road.

An accident on John F. Kennedy Parkway Thursday afternoon sent one person to the hospital and closed the road.

Livingston's ambulance squad transported the driver of a sports utility vehicle to St. Barnabas Medical Center, said Capt. James Miller, police public information officer.

His vehicle flipped onto its side. Miller said the initial report said the driver was trapped in the vehicle, but when officers arrived the driver was out of the vehicle.

Police are investigating if a bus was involved with the accident, he said.

The accident closed the northbound lanes of the road at Parsonage Hill Road, and traffic was backed up as it was diverted off of the highway. Traffic traveling south was not affected.
