Kindergarten Registration Is Coming This Month
Register your child at his school on Jan. 19 or 20.
Millburn-Short Hills elementary schools are getting ready for kindergarten registration later this month.
Families can register their children at the school they will attend on Jan. 19 and 20 at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The snow date for registration is Jan. 25. Children must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1 to enter kindergarten in the fall. Kindergarten is a full day of school.
Parents must bring an official, original birth certificate and two proofs of residency like a copy of the lease, deed or contract for your home and/or a current utility bill. Also bring a copy of the child’ s current immunization record for the school nurse.
Any families with a signed house contract or lease who will be moving into the township also should register all their school-aged children on January 19 and 20.
The township's five elementary schools are:
- Deerfield Elementary School
- Glenwood Elementary School
- Hartshorn Elementary School
- South Mountain Elementary School
- Wyoming Elementary School
Parents with a question about registration or what school their children will attend can contact the Public Information Office at the Education Center at 973-376-3600, extension 163.
If it is not possible to register on one of these days, parents should contact the appropriate school office as soon as possible to make other arrangements. Children do not need to accompany the parent for registration. In the spring, parents of kindergarten 2011 students will be invited to attend an orientation meeting, and the children will be invited to a special kindergarten visitation day at each school.
