Couple Rushing Baby To Hospital Strikes Millburn Teen
An 18-year-old girl is in critical condition after a car accident Wednesday night.
A Millburn teenager was in critical condition Thursday after she was struck by the car of a couple rushing their baby to the hospital, police said.
Millburn's first aid squad transported the teenager to University Hospital in Newark, where she is in critical but stable condition, Millburn Police Capt. Michael Palardy said.
The 18-year-old, who will be a senior at Millburn High School in the fall, was hit in front of the Haagen-Dazs on Millburn Ave. at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The Springfield man driving the car told police that he and his wife were rushing their 8-month-old baby to Saint Barnabus Medical Center in Livingston.
After the accident, the man remained at the scene while the wife brought the baby to the hospital, Palardy said.
No names have been released by police.
The accident is under investigation by the police crash response unit and no citations have been issued.

Jill.... Are you a parent? When your 8 month old child is in need of Medical assitance, the last thing you want to do is sit and wait for help to arrive to you.... Please do not even think of chastising these parents... this is a very unfortunate accident and my heart goes out to the young lady who was injured and her family......... but please put yourself in their shoes before passing judgement.

The parents should have called 911. Paramedics are trained to handle emergencies and can rush through traffic. I am interested to find out if this emergency was life threatening because now this 18 year old teen is suffering because of their poor judgment. By the way, I am a parent.
