Wednesday marks the first day of Lent on the Christian calendar with Ash Wednesday. Christians throughout the area head to church for services, including Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Monsignor George R. Trabold blessed the ashes—which are the remains of the palms from Palm Sunday—and each parishioners was marked with a cross from the ash.
