Three locals band are set to bring down the house for the Fifth Annual Millburn Schools Rock Concert in West Orange.
Millburn and Short Hills!
Are you ready to rock?
For the nonprofit’s 20th anniversary, the foundation booked three popular bands to entertain that evening, comprised mostly of parents of students in the Millburn Schools — Poet Section, Cat’s Ok Band and The Undertakers.
Short Hills resident Michael Levy, a keyboardist for The Undertakers, said he's thrilled to perform at this year’s MSR event.
“With three daughters in the Millburn school district, I know just how important the Ed Foundation's fundraising efforts are for enabling our kids to have leading-edge technology in their classrooms," Levy added. "We're looking forward to jamming for a great cause on March 8, and helping create a fun, high-energy event where everyone can dance and have a great time!"
Known for its talented high-energy musicians with their own brand of "funky classic rock," the Undertakers have built a great following in North Jersey and Manhattan. Several of the band's members performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 2010 Battle of the Corporate Bands, where they placed in the finals of the highly competitive national competition.
Cats OK Band brings back memories from a time in your life when music really mattered with feel-good rock, funk and blues.
The band features: Dave Gardner (bass), Dave Garfinkle (guitar), Lenny Meranus (guitar & vocals), Matt Stone (keyboards & vocals), Josh Tarnow (guitar & vocals) and Jon Wolfe (drums).
Poet Section is a local jam-cover-band from Short Hills. They play their own rendition of classic rock and blues extended with psychedelic jam that draws upon their musical experiences since grade school. Over the past seven years, they have covered more than 250 songs that they perform for friends and families at local venues, pubs and house parties.
“We are honored and extremely excited to play the Millburn Schools Rock event, and we feel fortunate to live in a town that supports the abundant musical talent among both students and parents,” drummer Peter Graubard said.
The concert will be presented by Shannon Aronson, Realtor with Keller Williams. Rock Star sponsors include Bergman Law LLC, The Lenner Family, Investors Bank, Louis Rizio MD Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, Regal Bank, Plastic Surgery of Short Hills, and Simon Westfall-Kwong, RE/MAX Village Square Realtor.
The Educational Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, run entirely by dedicated volunteers and raises funds through generous private donors, membership dues, grants and fundraising events.
Leading up to the 5th Annual Millburn Schools Rock Concert, the Ed Foundation is running a 50/50 raffle with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the grand prize winner and 50 percent to benefit the work of the Foundation.
