MADtv's Vogt to Star in 'Forum' at Paper Mill

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" opens on March 16.

One of MADtv's cast members will be taking the Paper Mill Playhouse stage for "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."

Paul Vogt will play Pseudolus in the production opening in March. He made his Broadway debut as Edna Turnblad in "Hairspray" and his film credits include "Valentine's Day" and "Princess Diaries 2." But he is best known for MADtv.

"A Funny Think Happened on the Way to the Forum" will run at the Millburn theater March 16 through April 10. Performances will be Wednesdays (except March 23) at 7:30 p.m., Thursdays at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 1:30 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 and 7 p.m.

"We are excited to welcome Paul Vogt to Millburn for the first time," said Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee. "His hilarious characters on the hit show 'MADtv' have made lasting impressions with fans worldwide."

In addition to Vogt, Stephen Berger returns to the Paper Mill Playhouse stage to play Marcus Lycus. Previously at Paper Mill he appeared in "Little Shop of Horrors," "Rumors," and "The Student Prince." Justin Bowen makes his Paper Mill debut playing Hero. Previous credits include "Big River," "High School Musical" and "Into the Woods" as well as CBS' "My Broadway Debut."

Stephen Buntrock, playing Miles Gloriosus, recently starred opposite Bernadette Peters in Broadway's "A Little Night Music." Chet Carlin plays Erronius and his Broadway credits include Gore Vidal's "An Evening with Richard Nixon" and "First Monday in October" starring Henry Fonda. Chelsea Krombach, who plays Philia, appeared in Broadway's "Wicked" and "Promises, Promises."

Beth McVey plays Domina, and her Broadway credits include "Nine," "Phantom of the Opera" and "Beauty and the Beast." John Scherer, who plays Hysterium, has appeared on Broadway in "Lovemusik," "By Jeeves," "Sunset Boulevard," "The Most Happy Fella" (NYC Opera) and the Actors Fund benefit performance of "Funny Girl."  Greg Vinkler, who plays Senex, was recently seen as Doc in the Broadway revival of  "West Side Story."

 Rounding out the cast are Kristine Bendul, Nicole Benoit, Krisitine Covillo, Ryan Dietz, Michael Timothy Howell, Anthony Johnson, Liz McKendry, Anne Otto, Chondra L. Profit, Lara Seibert, and Bret Shuford.

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" will be directed by Mark Waldrop. It's his fourth time directing at Paper Mill Playhouse. Vince Pesce joins the creative team as choreographer. He made his Paper Mill Playhouse debut with "Little Shop of Horrors" in 2008.

Single tickets are on sale and range in price from $25 to $92.
