Millburn Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Police say charge stems from domestic violence incident.

Millburn police arrested Thomas Tedesco, 66, of Millburn, Wednesday on charges of attempted murder, possession of unlawful weapons and criminal restraint.

Police Chief Greg Weber said the charges stemmed from a domestic violence incident on Wednesday, April 18, but did not release the victim’s name or any additional information about the case.

Neighbors in the Ocean Street neighborhood said the woman was covered in blood when she stumbled out the house and into the street, holding her head.

One neighbor, who did not want to be identified but called 911, said the victim was so covered in blood from apparent blows to the head that she did not recognize her.

“I had just awakened from a nap when I heard cries for help. I saw another neighbor in the street and I thought at first that her dog had been hit by a car, then I realized that she was tending a woman and she was yelling for help but I couldn’t tell who the woman was.”

The neighbor said other neighbors and kids who were outside also called 911 and a woman who was passing by in a van, stopped to help, as well.

“This was really bad,” she said. “From what I saw, she saved her own life by  running outside.”

Police did not say which hospital the woman was taken to. And the neighbor said that she and other neighbors are upset and worried because they haven’t heard any updates on her condition.

“It’s very disturbing,” she said. “She is a beautiful person. Very nice. I’m am desperate to find out how she is. They always seemed like a nice couple. It's  hard to believe I couldn’t even tell who she was ... From what I saw, the charges were appropriate.”

The neighbor said Tedesco and the woman were not married and that she may have recently moved out.

“I don’t know what went wrong. It’s really sad,” she said. “I just hope she pulls through.”
