Millburn's Assistant Coach Might Leave for Summit
Summit High School is considering David White as a candidate for the job held for over 10 years by Eugene Maxwell.
A new head coach will be at the helm of Summit's basketball program next season. Athletic officials have confirmed to Patch that the contract for head coach Eugene Maxwell has not been renewed for the 2012-2013 season.
Maxwell led the program for over a decade, with a handful of championships, but most recently the squad has produced losing records. Under Maxwell the Hilltoppers finished their 2011-2012 season with a 7-16 record.
Maxwell began as a head coach in Summit in the 1999-2000 basketball season. According to Summitsports.org, Maxwell led the Hilltoppers to two sectional championships in 2004 and 2005. Summit Athletic director Mike Sandor wouldn't say why the school was searching for a new basketball coach, but did give a hint as to who could fill the slot.
Sports Academy owner and director David White, also an assistant basketball coach at Millburn High School, has been recommended to fill the role, Sandor told Patch. He would not elaborate on whether or not White is a shoe-in. White has been a longtime basketball coach and has operated his Millburn sports facility, The Sports Academy for 10 years.

I don't understand why this is being reported. Not fair to Mr. White, Summit basketball, Millburn basketball, or the other candidates. Mr. White is a fine, deserving coach and I hope he gets the nod. However, it's becomes a story only when he gets the job. The MSH patch is better than this. I guess we all make mistakes and this story(?) is one of them. Live and learn.
