Music for the Season at St. Rose
The lights shine at the zoo, kids perform in "Bye Bye Birdie" in Summit, seniors can get their blood pressure checked and two elementary schools have holiday concerts.
1. St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church will play host to its annual Christmas symphony concert on Friday at 7:30-10 p.m. The concert features Father Alphonse Stephenson and the 45-piece St. Peter by the Sea Orchestra. Tickets are $25-50.
2. The Essex County Lights Spectacular continues Friday night at the Turtle Back Zoo. The lights will shine at 5-9 p.m. The event is free, but bring a non-perishable food item for donation.
Several Short Hills kids are involved in the Stony Hill Players production of "Bye Bye Birdie" on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Oakes Center in Summit. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for a child.
4. There's a blood pressure screening for senior citizens on Friday at noon to 1:15 p.m. at the Bauer Center in Taylor Park.
5. Two elementary schools will be holding their holiday concert assemblies on Friday—Deerfield and Hartshorn. Deerfield's concerts are at 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and Hartshorn's are at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Parents have been given a specific time to attend.
