514 Customers Still Affected by Power Outages

JCP&L estimates power will return completely Monday.

For updates on this story, like the Millburn Patch on Facebook and follow us on TwitterUpdated 4:30 p.m.

According to Jersey Central Power and Light's website, 514 customers are still in the dark in Millburn.

The company estimates it will fully restore power by Monday; 81 customers on Sunday and 433 on Monday.

The township website stated 32 crews were over the weekend throughout Millburn.

Let us know in the comment when your power returns and what area you live in so the rest of the community knows.

Residents in the area without power have said in patch comments, they received messages from the town at the end of last week telling them their power would return Friday night at 10 p.m.

The township confirmed six crews working at Taylor and Hobart, four crews in the area of W. Beechcroft, three crews at Bishop’s lane and Hobart and trees have been cleared at Cambridge and Falmouth.

Currently, Haimoff said she is dealing directly with the company's vice president, Mark Jones, after a week of complaining about the lack of communication to the company and the governor's office.

Hartshorn will remain closed but six crews are working to restore power.

"Certain areas, like in Millburn township, where there's been really bad damage to our systems, its going to take our crews a little bit longer to restore service to customers," JCP&L official, Mark Nitoski, said. "This is part of the storm restoration when it becomes labor intensive because you are replacing poles and wires, while bringing back a small number of customers with each repair."

According to Jones's report on Wednesday, 665 houses in South Mountain and Wyoming area will be restored tonight. By the end of day Thursday, 706 Short Hills and over 1,000 Glenwood area customers will receive power.

Yet, JCP&L's website released a list estimating the number of customers to receive power by Nov. 10 on Wednesday, which differs from the report Jones gave to the mayor.

The website stated on Wednesday it expects to return power to 512 customers; Thursday: 30; Friday: 366; Saturday: 1,104. These numbers though still leave, 300 plus Millburn homes in the dark.

When questioned about the 300-plus customers not estimated on the list, officials had no defined time frame or specific locations of these customers throughout town

Deerfield power was restored Tuesday night after Haimoff brought the township's power company complaints to the governor's office.

Since Hurricane Sandy hit, Haimoff said the power company has been difficult to work with and provided little or incorrect information.

"Jersey Central Power and Light is a horrible company and we are doing everything we can to resolve this situation," Haimoff said.

Nitoski explained the numbers provided have been estimates. "It was one of the largest storms to hit the area," Nitoski said. "We're working as fast and safe as we can to get everybody back."

The company said it has 9,700 workers fixing downed lines and clearing trees throughout the state with a few hundred more on the way. About 5,000 are line workers and 1,500 are forestry workers. The company has replaced over 1,600 poles so far over all.

When the power is restored, the township will deal with the issues with JCP&L, which has provided worse information than during Tropical Storm Irene, according to Haimoff.

"I have the same frustrations as every other person in this town," she said.

Fellow Residents of Millburn/Short Hills: Keep speaking out to the mayor, the township committee and Gov Christie's office. Don't let up on the pressure. That's the only way these JCPL weasels are going to get power fully restored to our town.

Still waiting for power in Glenwood.

We are on woodland road...still no power...this is intolerable ...I wonder as look out the living room windows will all this pain and discomfort be forgotten 2 weeks after the lights come on?..I hope not ..but life experience after 65 years it will. I was told by a JCPL rep 10 years ago that our service along woodland rd was as he said "ANTIQUATED"....we have to ask ourselves one question ..what have they done to upgrade it in the last 10 years..I think I can guess the answer to my own question...good luck to us all.

Agree with several comments posted already (this is a shame), but wondering why we look to government to solve this nonsense? This begins with local government and moves right up to state and federal levels. Republican, or Democrat, it doesn't matter. Where the heck was the Town Forester in all of this mess - Does he even know how to handle older trees? Haimoff's "demanding!" Well, I bet that makes everybody still without power happy to know! Why is JCPL allowed to service us at this point with no competition? Why doesn't the state of NJ mandate Gas Station owners to keep generators on hand to run gas? Hello FEMA, Why do you even exist if not for situations like this? Look, this is a messed up situation and is left to us locally to solve. As with Floyd, Irene the big east coast Black Out of 2003, we sit here and wonder why? Become more self reliant - get a generator if you don't have one, stop waiting for things to be fixed, that isn't going to happen. Get some gas cans and get ready. I've been hit by two 100 year floods in a 10 year span, my power goes out almost as often as it does in some third world countries. Folks, it isn't getting better unless you make it better. Speak out yes, that's why we pay taxes, but get ready. Thank you to out of state power folks.

JCP&L says ".. its going to take our crews a little bit longer to restore service to customers...". For that, we would need to see crews working which I have not. The more important statement is: "... it becomes labor intensive because you are replacing poles and wires, while bringing back a small number of customers with each repair". Here is the truth: Millburn has no priority and the resources are elsewhere. Mayor Haimoff says that the township will deal with the issues with JCP&L. It will be interesting to see what "deal with" exactly means.

I feel that this was the third strike for JCPL. The township had major issues with their response to Irene and the Halloween snowstorm of 2011.
JCPL is a service provider. They supply our power. We do not necessarily have to purchase the commodity from them, but they are solely responsible for that delivery. They have been grossly negligent in this regard and have done nothing to explain themselves. JCPL currently has more outages than any other utility affected by SAndy.
Why should JCPL be rewarded for constant poor service ? PSEG supplies our gas, perhaps they'd be a more effective choice. This is 2012 and we are the USA, I must assume that we have more than 1 choice in an electricity provider.

We had power restored today (Wednesday, November 7th) around 12:30pm on Sinclair Terrace. It's interesting that we have repeatedly heard from the workers in this area that are from other states how "antiquated" this equipment is that JCPL has in use in our community. Why is that? I seem to remember hearing that from the guys during the Hurricane Irene and Halloween Snowstorm of 2011, too. What does it take to get JCP&L to bring us into the current century?

Please keep calling JCP&L every day with your outage even if you are in hotels or away. Our house was not reported again this morning.

Glad to hear a few homes are getting power. I hope the rest of us get it soon.

Kudos to the mayor for calling, but hung up still not knowing when our poet district area was to expect power. Is Hartshorn area what she called Short Hills? Does that include Glenwood area she named specifically.? Which Thursday will they get here, tomorrow or a week from tomorrow? It's all BS anyway, but still her office robo called.

Falmouth and Cambridge look exactly the way they did right after the storm. They have not fixed the split pole or the wires that came down with a big tree. I have not seen a crew near the Hartshorn School yet! JCP&L needs to be held accountable. I was on the phone with a representative and asked why the Mall had priority over township residents. I called the Mayor at 6:30 this morning. We need to keep the pressure on or maybe a peaceful protest at the headquarters in Morristown!

Timber Acres/Roland Drive/Ironwood Rd across from Summit Ave were the last streets to be turned after the snostorm last year. It took a bunch of residents to go to the townhall and complain. Later that day a truck came and fixed the problem in less than 10 mins. This time the problem is worse as the traffic light at Summit Ave/Timber Acres is also out as is a large part of Summit Ave on the Summit side. I havent seen any repair trucks in the area since the power was lost.

My daughter was born a few days before Sandy. We brough her back home and Sandy hit. We survived on a camping butane stove for a few days and kept fireplace burning all day long. Then it was too cold to stay and the smoke smelled bad. A friend family offered us to stay with them in Livingston. Now my wife, daughter, son and grandma are safe and warm. A bad situation brings the best of people. We also cook and eat like a big big family.

In another note, US is doing worse than 3rd world country. We remain in earlier 20th century. We did not keep up. In major chinese cities, power lines are under ground since 80's. Try to find a pole in Beijin, Shanghai. Why NY City, New Jersey still having these poles? Heard on NPR, long island needs 30 billion to put wire underground. It better be gold wires. Why china can do it, didn't US borrow enought money from them. They still have money left to build better power lines than us?

Well, probably no work tomorrow. no school for kids. Snow bad out there.
May get power till crazymas. Thanks to our friend I can vent on borrowed Wifi.

US cities have buried lines (like in New York). You should compare apples to apples: What about Chinese "suburbs"? I doubt lines are buried when homes are as far apart as ours; it is too expensive per customer to do that. I have noticed that new homes in our town have the line from the pole to the house buried.

Keep in mind, a buried line means a lot of time and expense to dig up and solve problems when they do occur. (Moisture, animal chewing, etc.)

i wish we had a chance to vote i a different mayor, it really shouldnt take 9 days for her to get off her behind to work for the town, especially with the very high property tax rates, my street still has no power, i have seen no one come past, work on the street, nothing, wires are down and all, im not good with road names but the detour you have to take after turning right after kings is a total mess, trees on houses, wires down, poles leaning over and all, i cant imagine when they will get to them

I have no idea what goes on without using my battery on my phone to check here and the JCP&L website, there is no communication going on and it doesnt feel like our tax dollars are being put to work in situations like this. Almost every storm the power goes out, they want to go cheap but there are so many problems and we should be able to get past this in the 21st century

whatever the reason is, it is ridiculous that power is still not restored by now. The key element missing in this disaster is the lack of liability on any particular group -- anyone seems to be able to just walk away from the situation and not having any legal implications. Until a stronger enforcement is in place to put a group's own interest on the line, this will keep on happening.

For some reason, Livingston seems to get things sorted out quickly... not sure what's driving that...

Short Hills was a planned community and neighborhoods have names based on when and how they were developed. These include the Canoe Brook section, the Poet's section, the Robin Hood Section, Old Short Hills Park, and Glenwood for example. School were often constructed to service a particular area and flow into what used to be call the "junior high." Glenwood School which has always been regarded as extremely good and also associated with what was originally intended as a "starter" neighborhood permitting young couples to access the town . As recently as 1980, a beautiful three story Glenwood home might have cost no more than 80k while houses near what is now the Racquets Club went for twice that. Glenwood was where you kept your doors unlocked because you knew your neighbors, where you got a great education and where you din't get burdened by caring for a large pieec of property. Soon people began staying there forever . My guess is that the entrance cost into the neighbor hood was by 2007 ten times what it was in 1977 but it didn't cost a young family 2 million to start here as it might in Greenwich. That's some of the history or at least some facts and probably some apocrypha. I also remember being tolf by Dr. Lorber (sp?) who lived in the house now inhabited by the Moxley family, that his father had been the lead builder for Glenwood, which had once been a wetland, and Wells Lane. Stewart Hartshorne was a real visionary. Too bad he's not running JCPL

I heard about this from a co-worker today, and then someone posted about it here so I called Verizon Wireless and this is real. All voice/text overages from 10/29 - 11/16 are going to be forgiven and not charged on our bills. The in-scope counties are in the above article. I have the share everything plan which charges based only on your data usage, but I have been working remotely and using the data as our news and communications lifeline so my data usage has been insane. We're normally on the 4GB plan and I'm already increased up to the 12GB plan. I have to bump it every two days so if we don't get power back soon I'll have to do it again. The point is, when I called Verizon Wireless, they applied a credit for the cost difference between the 4GB plan and the 12GB plan with no questions asked. They also set my account to automatically revert to 4GB after this billing cycle and told me if I have to increase it again to call them back.

Talk about customer service. Way to go VZW!!!

Mid 60s this weekend, it will seem like a heat wave to the powerless.

Short Hills Mall is a big part of Millburn's tax base and it is a resource that can be shared by many. Probably the only place in town indoors that could handle the whole lot of us. I wish it had at least a drugs store and a decent book store like the old days because designer clothes aren't big on my list. "Currently, Haimoff said she is dealing directly with the company's vice president, Mark Jones, after a week of complaining about the lack of communication."

Ironic that the Mayor, of all people, is complaining about lack of communication. Maybe she should listen to herself and think about trying to improve her own communication. Even telling people daily that she has been trying to speak with JCP&L is better than doing nothing, which is what most people here have felt she has done. On the news last night, they showed a member of a Jersey Shore township committee driving around in a safety vest, in the dark, ensuring that people in his town got to safety. Now THAT is what I call leadership...

Good luck Al. I have left around half a dozen messages with Tim Gordon (I assume he does exist?) - not a single rpely to any one of them. These are not messages of outrage or frustration - simply a request from a resident for advice.

Why is our Township prepared to accept such discourteous behavior?

Have you ever gotten someone from town hall to return a call, or even answer the phone? I practically have to take a day off of work to go there and catch them in order to talk to anyone over there. It's always leave a voicemail and no response.

So - going on ten days without power myself and all we (town hall) are able to do is point fingers. It seems to me that get burned once or twice, shame on you. Get burned three times, shame on me (us). What ever happened to learning from our prior mistakes, owning up to them, and improving on the next go around? Clearly this is a difficult situation for everyone but hearing about Code Red calls ( anyone signed up for those?) and no other avenue for getting information is pretty laughable. At the shore they post updates 1,2 or even 3 times daily and they probably have a fraction of the resources we have.
Fiinally- Hurricane Sandy emergency line - open from 9 am to 4 pm - doesn't seem like its much of an emergency when you work banker's hours - and yesterday I couldn't get anyone to answer until 9:30 ( reportedly technical difficulties)
Come on Sandy (the double entendre is killing me) let's get our collective act together!!

I completely agree with Guido Graff! Our Mayor needs to show us a stronger brand of leadership. At a minimum she should be able to get from JCP&L its road by road restoration plan. It won't necessarily get our lights on any sooner, it will help diminsh the uncertainty and frustration we are all experiencing.

If you look at their outage map, you can draw a line separating the state! States 'power to majority of customers expected to be restored by midnight Sunday'.

I wrote to the OEM last night. This is the response:

I will pass your address to the representative we are in contact with from JCPL. I will also forward your email to him to contact you and give you a more accurate date of restoration. The information we receive is the same they pass onto the public. If you need to relocate to a shelter we have one open at the Codey Arena in West Orange. I know you are frustrated, which probably does not begin to describe how you are feeling, as are most with JCPL. I know that all the people want to know is when the power will come back. If you have an emergency situation please call 9-1-1. You should also call Millburn OEM at 973-564-7075.

Here is the email from Verizon:

Dear Valued Customer,

Verizon Wireless continues to focus its efforts to assist customers in the regions hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. We announced November 4th that customers in portions of New York and New Jersey will not be billed usage charges for domestic voice and text usage incurred between October 29th and November 16th 2012. No action is required by our customers to be eligible for this program.

The following Q&A was made available to assist with additional program details.

Am I eligible?
This program will support customers in the following impacted areas:

New York: Bronx County, Kings County, Nassau County, New York County, Putnam County, Queens County, Richmond County, Rockland County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County

New Jersey: Atlantic City, Bergen County, Burlington County, Camden County, Cape May County, Cumberland County, Essex County, Gloucester County, Hudson County, Hunterdon County, Mercer County, Middlesex County, Monmouth County, Morris County, Ocean County, Passaic County, Salem County, Somerset County, Sussex County, Union County, and Warren County.

What do I need to do if I’m in an impacted area?
Nothing, we are proactively taking care of this on your behalf.

What if I’m not in an impacted area listed above?
Please call customer care at 1-800-922-0204, where we’ll address additional requests on a case by case basis.

Will this program provide me credit?

This process will remove voice and text activity incurred between 10/29/12 and 11/16/12 for those in the designated counties. You will not see an actual credit on the bill, but simply won’t see any usage charges for voice and text activity during that period.

Will I still be billed for monthly access?
Yes, you will still be responsible for monthly access charges.

Can I still be billed usage outside of these dates?
Usage charges will apply to usage outside of the date ranges of 10/29 – 11/16. So there is still a possibility of charges for usage before or after those dates.

Why is the end date set for November 16th?
By 11/16 we’re hoping that the lives of our customers impacted by storm will have returned to pre-Sandy normalcy.

I received an alert that I am close to (or over) my usage allowance for voice and/or text, is this correct?
You may still receive normal usage alerts during your bill cycle for voice and/or text usage. If you are an account owner you can manage alert preferences, including opting out, by signing into My Verizon. See Usage Alerts for additional details.

Apparently, about a dozen utility trucks just sitting around in town. they've been there -- sitting there, not doing any work -- for an hour. Mayor Haimoff, someone, please, do something. and they say they need to get instructions from a director/supervisor where to go next. They are just sitting there, with utility poles and all the equipment they need to actually fix problems in our town. So then where are these 5000 line workers and 1500 tree workers? JCP&L is blindsiding everyone with lies. The crews are not here if none of us are seeing them. They are NOT in MORRIS COUNTY. As a point of information, I waited only 25 minutes for gas on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Raceway Station at the corner of Parsonage Hill Road and So. Orange Ave.
Does anyone have accurate knowledge of the town of Madison and its power company. I read they lost power for a brief time and the whole town was functioning within 48 hours of Sandy. Is this true? If yes, how can we sign up for their power company?

Reverse 911 call received just now from Haimoff said Hartshorn School and the streets on that circuit (?) will be back up by tonight. Hobart Gap Road "is currently being worked on." Coniston and North Road will have work done "later today." Tree crews are going to Canterbury and Stewart to work on trees and wires entangled. There are 20 crews working on our town. This all comes from JCPL VP Jones.

Ironically, the message from the mayor was recorded by a man, not by Haimoff herself. Even though he says at the end "you are in my thoughts." How odd and awkward. So much for hearing the message from us about connecting with residents.

At what point do you just throw up your hands and give up? 5000 crew members for 400k homes? Thats one person per every 80 homes and I havent seen a single JCPL truck since the storm. Chris Christie knows when to talk and when to shut up and right now is a great example. He was quick to take advantage of his "Guilliani" moment and is now mum completely on NJ's power struggles. OK, just off another interminable, ciruitous call with JCPL. Essentially, they don't know anything. all crews are 'assessing' again. I asked about the VPs figures presented to our Mayor yesterday and the proximity between those and reality. None, it seems. She couldn't explain where his figures had come from.

I asked her to try to reconcile the various figures they are throwing around, and she told me that they really don't have much faith in the figures - hence the fact that crews are assessing again.

Thanks. How do the figures shown here in this work of fiction reconcile with the figures in the work of fiction given to the Mayor yesterday. As I read her message, I saw the following:

665 additional South Mountain and Wyoming homes should be restored by this evening

1000 Glenwood area homes should be restored by end of day Thursday and;

705 Short Hills homes by end of day Thursday.

That means that they will restore 1,705 today. I presume they completed yesterday's tasks.

Who do we believe anymore? This is becoming more than farcical.

Yes, I know that there are many in NJ worse off than we are. I am not demanding power on NOW (although that would be nice). All that I am asking for is a believable timetable. No-one seems willing to provide that. Why?

On Sunday there were 3 or 4 trucks doing repairs on montview and lake. The trucks were at the intersection.
They made repairs to 2 poles and transformers ( I think one on Jefferson and one on montview. 100 yards away on lake rd there was another pole and transformer down, yet they left and never repaired it. No one has ever come back to lake rd since. Doesn't make sense to me how they could have full crew there doing repairs and leave another repair 100 yards away. As far as I can tell no one has power for blocks on either side of highland ave. this is frustrating. With so many other towns being in better shape has anyone asked if they can bring in more crews. I heard on 880 am radio that Connecticut is sending free crews elsewhere to make repairs where they still haven't had power restored.

The out of state crews, seemingly idle, do not know this locale and can only work as directed by guess who, JCP&L; the latter has reprised the ineptitude demonstrated 14 months ago. I suspect that much of this mess is about money, and to have any effect on future effectiveness, JCP&L and its distant holding company parent (Ohio-based First Energy, I believe) need to be SERIOUSLY dealt with by their compliant regulators. As a novel thought which I not seen expressed before, could not JCP&L be compelled to cede its Millburn/Short Hills (maybe Livingston too) franchise to PSE&G? Moreover, as maintenance appears seriously deferred, PSE&G, if agreeing to take over, should be awarded a significant sum to take on this burden and effect this necessary upgrading. Until JCP&L/First Energy is financially impacted by more than a wristslap, nothing much will change and we will go through this again and again. How about this approach, Governor/Mayor/Public Utility Commision?

"And so to bed" again on Jefferson Avenue - no lights, no heat, no telephone, no internet, and no trucks sighted. I'm applying for Camping merit badge!

One of our neighbors said a "man doing a survey" said a substation was destroyed and if the power was not on by Sunday the 300 Glenwood homes would not be getting power until late December/early January. Could this possibly be true? Also, perhaps as others are getting power, the town's emergency help line 973-564-7755 is now only staffed from 9:00 to 4:00: just in time to know you will be spending another dark and cold night. JCP&L and the town also continue to have information. Dr. Crisfield is doing the best job of communicating information and he does not even live in town. Also, thank you to Kings for being there.

Maybe she should wait until all power is restored before making comments like that. She is supposed to be improving our chances of getting restored sooner, not harming them. Also, I drove through the Hobart Gap/White Oak intersection 5x today. I can report that no work was done there today. There were 2 Asplundh bucket trucks removing the remains of trees yesterday. Millburn DPW removed most of the tree parts last week.

Never having commented, I feel odd. Nevertheless, the simple facts are, (1) How much money do I (JCP&L) make by charging these areas for power, and (2) how much does it cost to restore their power? I am confident JCP&L has figured this out. An apartment building in Elizabeth is probabaly more important to them than a neighborhood in Short Hills (especially if half of the residents are in Florida). So, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, umless one of us is related to upper management, or has other political pull, we WILL wait or W. A. S'd. I had an F there but I try to be reasonable. Hang tight. After not having power for one week after Irene with never ever getting a straight answer from JCP&L and last week 6 nights without power from Sandy, they need to be fired. Why can't we be like Madison, who have their own power company. Additionally, why are there no consequences from the incompetent lack of response from JCP&L over Irene? I am sick and tired of this situation. I have a home business and lost several thousand dollars last week, but JCP&L has no accountability and will turn around and hit us all with a rate increase and get it. There is something very seriously wrong in this picture and with our local and state government.

This morning I sent the following proposal to the Township Committee:

To: Township Committee Members:

I would like to offer a specific recommendation to pressure JCPL in the immediate term and improve our town's situation in the long term:

1) Publicly announce that the Township will begin a condemnation proceeding of the JCPL infrastructure in Short Hills/Millburn.

2) Publicly solicit bids for the purchase of that infrastructure for the conclusion of the takings proceeding. The Supreme Court in Kelo v. City of London determined that this type of taking is permissible.

3) Execute the taking and resell the infrastructure.

Please advise whether you are willing to pursue this option. Step 1 alone would get attention from JCPL to Millburn.

I grew up in Short Hills on Elmwood Place. My parents lived in the same house between the time they had the house built in 1940 until 1999 when my Mom died and Dad moved to Cape Cod. I remember Hurricane hazel in 1954 when winds gusted over 100 mph and trees came down all over the Glenwood section. When I was cleaning out my Dad's house this summer, I came across pictures that Dad took of me on a big tree that fell across Woodland Rd. The thing I do remember was we were without power for about half a day. I remember seeing crews restringing wires even with the tree still falling across the roads.

Good thing my parents aren't alive and living on Elmwood Place now. Mom would not be happy and if momma isn't happ, NO ONE is happy!

I understand that Utility Infrastructure is a lot harder to install and work with these days, especially with newer safety laws, labor rules and ordinances. A lot different than pressing buttons on smart phones that we got used to now. Perhaps its payback for neglect and lack of appreciation of what goes behind 24X7X365 service of electric power in real time. Its easier for the President to look Presidential, the Governor to look Gubernatorial, and the Mayor to look Mayoral - for photo ops and move on. Laying wires and providing 24x7x365 is difficult work.

Agreed infrastructure is real work BUT the big problem is that JCP&L has not made the investment in upgrading our town's electrical infrastructure. It also in no way excuses the utter lack of communication and customer service. In what other industry can you just say to an upset customer "Its your problem, I owe you nothing, we'll get around to it at some point..." I agree with Joel, condemn their infrastructure, create our own power company as Madison did and become too big to ignore. Very clever management Madison!

I agree greater control is better than this. Wishful thinking is a good start. Getting over resistance is another. Pollution standards, labor laws, permits (Huge, huge problems). Theses are long term projects with 30+ yrs service life, and require similar planning. Identifying vacant land, and complaints from neighbors affected by the smoke, etc. Somehow building reliable transmission lines from the plant seems like a better option, because that is where the failure has occurred...

Does our Mayor hold a daily press conference? Blog? Twitter? Facebook? Anything?
The complete and utter lack of communication is extremely frustrating. There is absolutely no flow of information coming from town hall.
Is it unreasonable to ask JCPL to post a graphic map of Millburn Short Hills twice a day which shows whats lit and what isn't? What will be lit in an hour and what is several days out?
People can't plan their lives. If I had known this would go on for 10 - 12 days I would have gotten a hotel room in PA and I could have been reimbursed through FEMA.
Instead I wait day to day and both our town's leadership lack of communication and competence coupled with JCPL's planning.
I'm going to petition a Recall Election for a new Town Council.
Jersey City has power - they were flooded
10 - 12 days? really? we were not flooded – I don’t a believe we even lost a substation – Transformers and poles – that’s it.

http://outages.firstenergycorp.com/nj.html
And this doesn't count... it's not a detailed map - just a pacifier to say ooo ahhh look at the space that's out - JCPL treats it's customers like fools - They don't give out too much information about their work to cover-up incompetence.

Neighbors, Mayor Haimoff was kind enough to call me this evening at approximately 7 pm. Mayor Haimoff was surprised to learn that crews had been working in the Cayuga area today, when the town was told that they would be working on Hartshorn. She has not been informed by JCPL the reason for the change from what she had previously been told. Mayor Haimoff was unable to confirm # of poles down on Hartshorn circuit on the call, but stated that she did have list. She agreed to post on website (Friday) AM a list of poles by location that are down. Mayor Haimoff agreed to follow up with JCPL for times as to which they would start working on each downed pole, and that she would post that information on the Township website when/if received. Although I sought a commitment that she would call JCPL immediately after hanging up with me, it is not clear that she agreed to do so especially since I subsequently learned from the town website that Mayor was on HometowneTV 7:30. Mayor Haimoff reports that JCP&L has told her that all power will be restored by Sunday nite.I remain concerned that our officials are not being sufficiently proactive or detail oriented in this process, and that they are not pressing JCPL enough. For example this group knew by midday that work was being done in Cayuga, while the Mayor didn’t learn about it until the evening. Our officials are not “in the field” but are sitting in “headquarters” & getting reports from Town Engineer & JCPL.

From SF Chronicle: Gov. Christie vouches for JCP&L: Comically, the Gov said all in JCP&L's purview would be powered by Sunday night, but JCP&L contemporaneously disabused the notion. Interestingly, his take his hard to find in local media.

"JCP&L, the state's second-biggest utility, was hit harder by both Sandy and by the nor'easter than the state's largest utility, Public Service Electric & Gas, he said.
'They drew the short straw on this one,' he said.
PSE&G said Thursday it expected to have power restored to all its customers by Saturday, one day later than it had projected prior to the snowstorm.
The governor said he believed New Jerseyans have shown less frustration with the utilities' response to Sandy than they did after Irene because customers have received much more information about restoration efforts. The governor required the utilities to post a timetable for their town-by-town restoration efforts"

Dealing with Downed Poles and Trees after a Storm
Storms often damage utility poles, power lines and trees, which can create life-threatening
hazards. Here are tips for dealing safely with broken poles, wires or trees:
◆ Treat all downed power poles or utility lines as if they’re live and carrying electric
current. Never touch or try to move them. Stay completely clear!
◆ Stay away from anything else a downed pole or power line might come in contact
with. For instance, metal fences can become electrified by fallen wires.
◆ Consider even cable television or telephone wires dangerous; any wire can be
energized if it falls or gets wrapped around an energized line, even a block away.
◆ If you see a downed pole or line, call your utility company or your police or fire
department to have it barricaded until it can be repaired. Warn others to stay away,
and keep a particularly sharp eye on children and pets.

◆ Never attempt to remove a person or animal caught in power lines, because bodies
conduct electricity. Call 911 for help.
◆ If a power line is in water, consider the water as dangerous as the wire.
◆ Beware of downed lines touching an unoccupied vehicle. Stay away from the vehicle.
◆ Never drive over a fallen wire or under a dangling one. If a power line hits your car
while you’re inside, stay put and wait for help. If the car catches fire, jump clear without
touching the vehicle and the ground at the same time. Bunny hop away with both
feet together.
◆ Watch out for power lines that might be tangled in damaged trees.
◆ Never use metal ladders or metal pruning tools when clearing debris near power lines.
◆ Never climb trees near power lines.
◆ Beware of trees that are leaning, partly uprooted or that have large broken or
OVER
cracked branches. Any of these can fall on you. Be leery of trees with roots
that might be in soggy ground.
◆ If you clean up broken branches, always use proper safety equipment such as
heavy gloves, goggles, boots, long-sleeve shirts and long pants. Drink plenty of fluids.
Ask for help when you need it. Lift with your legs, not with your back.
◆ If you use a chainsaw, obey its safety guidelines.

◆ DO NOT !! Let your children play in a puddle after a storm. There could be diseases in the water or a live electric line.

I have left numerous messages with his office this week - on voicemail and by email. Not a single reply. I called the switchboard to ask how I could reach him effectively and they put me to the Clerk's dpeartment. Same routine - not even the courtesy of a reply to say 'we got your message'.

I wrote to the Mayor last night to express my disquiet - I have worked in and had lots of contact with government (national and local) in different countries all over the world. I have never, ever, seen such disrespect for residents. Really, this is the worst I have seen anywhere. I appreciate that sometimes investigations or other work need to be conducted before a full answer can be given to a query. But in those instances, it should be incumbent upon the paid officials to offer the courtesy of an acknowledgement.

Guess what - the Mayor sticks to what seems to be standard Township practice and doesn't reply. We need our Township to develop, implement, and report performance against standards for various common tasks, such as the time taken to respond to queries.

- Gordan must be dismissed by the Town Council 2/3's vote and the Town Council needs to change it's charter and impute term limits legislatively to the office of Business Administrator. This man has been in office for over 30 years - he controls everything - period - He IS the OEM for our town !
I can't imagine anyone having the power that this one office controls for so long - and doing it well.

No signs of anyone fixing it and I don't think it's part of the Hartshorn problem since houses all around this island of about 50 powerless homes have power. There is a down pole at Chaucer and Spenser that has yet to be touched. It could be a combination but hard to believe the grid line skips groups of houses and starts up again.

The Electric Department follows a strict set of priorities in restoring power. First to be restored are outages that affect high voltage or sub-transmission facilities, which provide power to substations that serve large numbers of customers, hospitals, schools and businesses. Following in descending order are substation main line circuit outages, other primary lines, transformer malfunctions, downed service wires and finally nonessential street lights. Oil spills from transformers, wires blocking main highways, and wires down on buildings or vehicles are top priorities based on the hazards they pose to the public.

I was just back there and on PTW there were 6 trucks, including the post hole digger. They were clearing trees away in one spot and it looked like getting ready to replace the pole in another. They had new poles and transformers. There was no HAZMAT for the transformer fluid. They just had one of those absorbant rings around it.

There were also guys who looked like they were getting jumper wires ready. I asked one of the men if he thought we'd get power back today and he responded, "It's a good possibility". We'll see....

This was from the Mayor's update 2 days ago -
According to Jones's report on Wedneday, 665 houses in South Mountain and Wyoming area will be restored tonight. By the end of day Thursday, 706 Short Hills and over 1,000 Glenwood area customers will recieve power
We know that these targets were not met. Does the Mayor have the Jones's report for Friday?

Cynthia: We got different information from Craig Mandel regarding the cause of the outage on South Terrace (which I am guessing is on the same circuit as West Drive). We also saw an Ohio Edison SUV at the corner of Lakeview and 124 today. They did tape off the wires on Lakeview but could not give us an estimate of when it would be fixed.

It isn’t just long-term stress that’s been a negative consequence of Sandy. The state’s only certified burn center, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, has seen a tripling in the number of cases.

St. Barnabas spokeswoman Sally Mallech said many residents aren’t aware of how to handle generators and gasoline containers.

“They’re not using them in a safe manner,” she said.

The hospital offers a series of tips for handling generators, including always keeping them outdoors and waiting for them to cool down when refueling and restarting them.

O’Dowd was among the state and federal officials who reviewed the storm response from healthcare providers at a briefing at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune on Thursday afternoon.

She urged healthcare providers pay attention to their own stress levels.

I would like to know what the town crisis management plan is. Do they actually have one? Supposedly after 9/11 all communities were to implement one. If we have one, where is it posted? It seems to me that in light of what has just happened, I shudder to think how this town would react to something catastrophic. It is time to take back our town and elect responsible leaders irrespective of party affiliation. Independent is the way to go. I would be up for organizing a group to start working on a plan. You can be sure this will happen again. There is a leadership vacuum.

1. How many crews are currently working in our town?
2. What are their working hours? If not 24/7, why not?
3. Who tells them where to work today?
4. Why can't that person tell us where they are working today?
5. Can we get a list of the streets without power?
6. Has each of the downed poles, wires, and/or broken transformers been looked at by a supervisor and assessed as to the amount of work that needs to be done?

Dear Millburn/Short Hills Resident:

I am reaching out to update you on my latest conversation with JCP&L regarding the status of their power restoration efforts in your area.

I have been advised by JCP&L that they have been successful in restoring much of the power in your area and expect to have the majority of affected homes restored by the end of today, November 9, 2012. I have been working tirelessly to ensure your power is being restored as quickly as possible, especially to Hartshorn Elementary School so children will be able to return to school on Monday.

I understand that may be of little comfort to you as you are again being asked by the utility to be patient at a time when results are long overdue. Please know that as you continue to deal with these difficulties you are encouraged to contact my office for any additional assistance or information that I or my staff can provide or to make me aware of any outages that have continued beyond the timetable provided.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Codey

Quitting at 6-7pm is total BS. If not around the clock, they have been telling the politicians and DJs on 101.5 that they're working 16 hour shifts. But then again, why would I be surprised that they're lying.

Still dark and cold on Myrtle Ave. No updates about my area on any recent Code Red messages and we weren't resolved in the ~600 estimated to be resolved Wednesday night for Wyoming/S. Mountain. I have no clue when we will have power again, if ever.

I find it offensive that now, 12 days into this, the mayor finally starts sending non-stop CodeRed messages with updates sounding like she's battling JCP&L and their inept VP when for the first 10 days we heard about leaf pick-up and recreation sports.

This is such a colossal failure!!!

On Park Circle, there are no trees, poles, or lines down. Just a blown transformer. How hard is it to visit our street and make this simple repair, instead of focusing the crews on the major pole replacement efforts?? The rest of our street got power back six days ago. It is simply irresponsible of JCP&L to leave part of a street dark for no justifiable reason except that we are on a cul-de-sac and no one visits us.

How do we remove our Town Council? How do we get our Town Administrator replaced? How do we reclaim our power grid from JCP&L and get PSE&G to take it over, or go independent like Madison? It sounds like we need a lawyer versed in government affairs?

I'll participate and help, I want to see change, but I don't know how to start or accomplish these things myself. Maybe we should all start meeting regularly, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly? Start up a website of something?

The sun is up on Saturday morning. The gentleman from The Environment Protection Agency told me that the repair of broken poles and wires are matter between the township and the utility company at the level of local government. Please keep hope that Millburn residents are not abandon. I physically talked o the crews during their break at the West Road, they told me in the eyes that nothing is guarantee, but they will try hard to fix Hartshorn School, so the children do not have to displace to different building schools. I believe the crews are working to get back to Millburn normalcy and reputation. If the residents and parents feel left out, not to mention the kids. Tomorrow is a better day.

With approximately 30 streets still without power according to jayne di blaze's consolidated list, it seems to me that an ASAP public announcement (step 1 below) would push JCPL to provide quicker service and engage them more directly with our township officials.

<><>

Second that. Additionally infrastructure on those streets now without power needs to be upgraded immediately. This outage pattern gets repeated every storm. We are the last to get powered back each time. Availability, the industry metric used to gauge utility performance is horrible in this neck of the woods. Alternate solutions like burying wires due to more trees here need to be explored. Given the state had an blackout, but on our streets it is many times worse.

According to the town website, the next meeting of the township committee is Tuesday Nov 20 at 8 pm, 2nd floor town hall. Please attend. Please spread the word. If we're not there to demand the many, many infrastructure changes that must be made, then we'll have no one to blame next time but ourselves. It is clear that, left to their own devices, our elected officials and employees won't/can't do it. I know that as their power has been restored, people have dropped off this list. Please keep your friends and neighbors in the loop.

I am not sure if the sense of urgency reflects by the work ethnics in the time of crisis, after 11 days it should be an efforts at least on the remedial help than prevention. New Jersey is a Garden State and we have trees. The climate change is real, but our infrastructure is far away from being in the 21st Century. The Green Initiatives are not promising for buy in.. Our technology and labor intension are way behind. The climate change and the efficiency of the public works does not prove us the readiness for going GREEN.

We were invited by kind people in vauxhall to come to their home for dinner and warmth. They hooted when we told them we'd have to go to the zoo for shelter.

Is shelter truly available at the zoo? We will need it after monday night and the cold returns!

Found it, just called them, nothing they can do. They said JCP&L is giving them the same uninformative updates. He suggested I call them, I told him that was just a waste of time. He said he was personally a JCP&L customer who is also out and they aren't giving him any info either. He said I could e-mail or call Craig Mandel, but Mandel didn't come in today and they didn't know if he was coming in at all this weekend. I told him I already e-mailed Mandel and he has been giving me the same news since Wednesday which is no update, but hopefully I'll be fixed soon.

I called the 4111 number and they told me to dial 973-324-9750, which is the Essex Cty. Sheriff's number. 9755 is probably the phone ext. they had Mandell set up at when he was there, but they told me he wasn't in today, didn't know if he would be in this weekend at all. I e-mailed Mandell this morning and he did respond so he either is just replying with no actual info for the sake of replying or maybe he's working from another location? I called him yesterday on the number he called me from earlier in the week and it turned out to be his personal cell phone. He didn't sound pleased that I called him there and was more interested in how I got the number rather than how my outage was going. I told him he called me from the number earlier in the week so I was just calling him back...

Just got back from my Bicycle group ride this morning and it was nice to come back to power after 12 days.
Touring through Chattam, Meyersville, Peapack doing a 50 mile loop - it all looks like a WWII movie when the artillery would bomb forests and blast through the trees - just a war zone but seemingly many even out there are returning to normal lives - not many roads blocked by trees anymore - people getting new transformers, telephone polls, lines. I'm sure things will be better by Monday here in Millburn -

But with that said - the damage is done as far as I'm concerned.
I will never forget how this town's leadership let all of it's citizens down by:

A) not having some form of continuous flow of information back and forth from the leadership of our community to the public.

B) By not providing a Town Shelter for not just the elderly - but in this storms case - Everyone - to be able to be warm - eat something - have a hot shower - sleep in a warm place - charge a cell phone and be with others in our community to console and offer help.

C) We need a new town Business Administrator who does not work with autonomy,
basically we need to change the towns bylaws so that this systemic problem doesn't occur again for the 3rd time when the October Halloween storm hits in 2013.

JCPL needs to reevaluate how it goes about reconnecting people. Their resources are NOT being used correctly. If you have resources in one area, you should make sure particular areas are fully restored before moving on. Their current polices leaves homes to fall through the cracks, completely forgotten about. JCPL needs to be held accountable for their actions, as does our Mayor and administrator. Hey Tim, I hope your enjoying your power over on Locust. Once I have power, I and others will do everything possible to remove your from your post. Resign now and save us all the trouble. Have lived here for 33 years but never have the limitations of our town "government" been as clear as these last two weeks.

It's evident that the town had no real plan for this kind of emergency--no shelter, no contingency plans for heating stations, no plans for communicating when phone service has been so affected, i.e. it's not helpful to send me reverse phone messages when the wires are down and in the middle of my road, no organizing of volunteers. Has anyone from town checked on frail or elderly folks? Has anyone even seen a town official walking on their street? On Undercliff we were blocked in, by 6 fallen oaks with few people having a way to get off the street--what would have happened if there was a fire or other emergency? Sounds like Essex OEM was responsive. By contrast my calls to Town Hall were futile and interactions were polite but empty-from reading the posts here, seems true for everyone.

I suspect more than one person in our town government owns this problem--demonizing one -Gordon or Haimoff will not guarantee real change but real change is clearly what we need.

Wonderfully stated however Tim Gordan IS Millburn's OEM and I'm just relaying the facts when I say that it was his decision not to have an emergency shelter for our community and it was the Mayor's decision not to have a shelter for our community and it was the rest of the town council's decision not to have a shelter for our community, The fault falls squarely on their shoulders. - You see The Red Cross (a private organization) moved their personnel to Summit - and since they did that our
leadership in town hall decided well we can depend on the County Services for our town folk.
Please read my post here: http://millburn.patch.com/blog_posts/no-shelter-for-millburn

I could not agree with you more regarding volunteerism in the community and better organization.
Day 1 I called the EMT service to volunteer. They said they can only accept EMT certified people. I get that.
I then walked into the police station and the LT told me thank you but we aren't accepting volunteers.
I walked to the fire station - they were too busy to deal and I didn't want to interrupt.
I walked to the Red Cross building - it was closed with a note and phone number on the door - I called and volunteered for 6 days at the Essex County Shelter - a joint operation of County employees and the Red Cross. Also located there was the County OEM which takes it's cues from all of the surrounding town OEMs.

Myrtle Ave Update:
An Ohio Edison truck showed up around 1pm. He was a great friendly guy on a cherry-picker truck. Houses #126-#134 have been without power since Monday night (12 days) and we are all now up on 1 phase (110v, not the full 220v) so half of our fuse panels are energized. I'm off the generator and have few extension cords to bring power into the rooms that are down. FIOS TV/Internet/Phone are up.

We don't have full power because he said our transformer is bad and has to be replaced. It's also leaking and he said it's older than we would want to know. He said he put in the order to have our transformer replaced and it *should* be done within 24 hours. He said it's about a 40 minute job.

Here's the most irritating part. To get us up on half-power, all he had to do was install spacers on some of the wires to keep them from getting tangled and turn on the breaker on the transformer. That part took him 30 minutes tops. We could have had this half power all along! I asked him about the stories of other out-of-state crews saying how terrible and out-dated our infrastructure is and he said he has seen two things these past two weeks that have amazed him. He said the level of destruction to the power infrastructure was incredible, nothing he has ever seen before. He then said that he has encountered equipment in NJ that is so old he can't remember the last time he has worked on it. I'd say he was in his 50s in terms of age.

There are few locations have broken poles and wires down on Hobart Gap Road along White Oak Ridge Road that impact Hartshorn School power outages. The crews finally showed up to Hobart Gap Road this evening at 4:30pm to observe and left. The workers all shaked heads. It seems this reporting efforts take forever to actually get things work in progress. No other independent carriers can even come to help the crews to faster the fixing work to minimize damage. Time is money and the fixing process is dragged for a very long time.

I expect another broken deadline just like the 4 before, another night of no heat or power, another night of family dinners at Panara. Maybe I will be proven wrong but I really don't think so.
Once this is over, we all need to ask some serious questions of our towns expensive yet silent Emergency Management.

From what I could tell last night, Coniston and a portion of South Terrace (roughly from Coniston to West) has power and perhaps are on a different circuit (coming in from Hobart?) from the rest of the neighborhood). The last four or five houses on the tracks side of South Terrace towards Hobart have no power and the houses from West to 124 on South Terrace did not appear to have power. West, Tulip, Lakeview, Windermere had no power. We have raised this with the town, Craig Mandel and the automated JCP&L reporting system.

What is most frustrating is that it appears when the teams actually get to the area in need of repair, it often takes only a few hours to repair. To me, that adds insult to injury. You had us waiting two weeks for something that could have been fixed that quickly?

If you are still without power and see a crew in your neighborhood, talk to the crew about your problem. They were able to turn our power on and were unaware of the issue. There is a crew on Hobart Ave. near South Terrace right now.

I also saw a crew (three large tower trucks) working on the problem in Summit that is causing West Drive to be out, so that is at least some good news.

Transmission lines feeding the sub station had broken. He said it will be by tomorrow that we will get power. Saw a Duke Energy truck pull into the Wine Library lot. Thankfully it was closed today (Ha ha). Seems like JCPL has hired sub contractors, who might want to stretch this........

An FYI to all who were told that their street needs transformers: Oak Ridge Ave. in Summit needs 8 transformers that are being shipped from God knows where but JCPL was able to hook up their street temporarily without them! That question should be posed to JCPL. There are alternative means to power apparently.

There are many questions for JCP&L - for instance:
their lack of preparidness since last years 5 day power-outage -
resources, such as transformers and telephone poles, manpower -
working crews 16 hours instead of 2 - 12 hour shifts
the complete lack of representation in the field diagnosing problems correctly the first time.
the complete lack of communication with local OEM. (not sure who is responsible for this one)

It is 2 problems they do simple repairs and they can't do this type of work and there were a lot of contractors in the area doing partial work and leaving. They said they did some work yesturday that was supposed to get power to all of the surraounding areas and the hit the switch and nothing happened. They have no clue what the problem is and they couldn't help and were going to leave. I then called JCP&L and the lady was rude and hung up on me. So there. Looks like no power again. If you don't have power by tomorrow morning - then I would strongly suggest going to Town Hall for their 8:30am meeting on Monday and letting the Mayor, Town Council Memebers and our OEM know personally what your issues are with your individual homes.

Obviously this wouldn't be the time for everyone to show up and address everything that went wrong over the past two weeks but at least those 300-400 homes should go and have their individual power issues addressed and fixed getting some kind of guarenttee from our elected officials and Business Administrator.

Then for the Town Meeting - November 20th Tuesday 8:00pm we can talk about the larger issues with the power company and our local governments actions during this storm.

I just drove across Hobart saw a Asplund truck parked - I'm guessing their waiting for a JCPL truck to show up so they can clear something - then I crossed over and drove to Forest and also saw Twin Oak Rd. I'm astonished - not by the damage, but by the inaction. There are very large dangerous wires across several of the roads still - hanging down all over. There are trees everywhere - nothing new here however I don't see any of our town crews out clearing anything - I'm guessing our Town's Business Admin decided not to approve the overtime or is leaving it up to the other workers who were brought in rather than deal with the overtime and having to file the paper work later? As I drove around town and earlier I biked all over town - I could count the number of JCPL trucks & workers on 2 hands. I would strongly challenge their assertion of 30 crews working round the clock to restore power today.

Yesterday afternoon we saw 10, count them 10, township workers clearing branches and limbs from the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum?!? To the best of my knowledge, there are no wires within the Arboretum. They had the big chipper out there and everything. Why would the township, with the roads in their current condition, send 10 guys to do this? Even if they weren't working on clearing trees amongst the downed lines, why wouldn't they be working on clearing the leaves, limbs and branches that are now taking over the streets around town? Normally quiet streets (i.e. Twin Oak & Taylor) are now busy thoroughfares b/c Hobart, White Oak Ridge, Hobart Gap are closed. These streets are so cluttered they are almost unpassable! How are the buses going to be maneuvering around these streets tomorrow? This is so poorly managed...it is embarrassing!

In thier defense, they did ask everyone to pick their leaves off the road before the storm and pick up is still suspended. People just ignored it or forgot to communicate to their landscapers, so technically there shouldn't be anything piled up on the roads. I agree though still not safe for buses.
Also didn't we lose 5 or so town public works employees when we outsourced the garbage collection. They sure would have come in handy this week.

@Joshua, I looked above and the last update mentioning 806 says 1/2 of the customers are still out? Maybe I missed an update?

@Rochelle76, one thing Craig Mandell said was that he has encountered many many people that never reported their outage. Here's a snippet from an e-mail he sent me about an hour ago. If you know the addresses or people with no power, urge them to call the 888 number to report it.

"One of the most frustrating things I have been coming across the last 2 weeks is most don't realize they have to report an outage. I wish everyone knew this before the storm hit and JCP&L should have spread that word as it would have saved several headaches! Out of the 300 who emailed me in the last 3 days I helped about 100 people get tickets issued, of who did not report their outage, which puts them in the system and makes sure their outage is known. So many people I spoke to said "I assumed since my street was out it was reported" I personally can not input all those tickets manually so tell them to call 1-888-544-4877."

Spenser, Chaucey, Dryden area just got power back 10 mins ago... Anyone else still without power? Probably want an updated list of people without power and forward it to the town... good luck everyone and as people mentioned several times here -- action/change is needed going forward... don't think any of us wants to go through this again...

That stinks. Hopefully it is temporary while they fix something for others. Seems JCP&L is still working since power just went on from the Chaucer/Spenser pole.

Just went out and me 3 trucks from JCP&L. They had to take a certain section off to troubleshoot an area by Hobart. Power was restored at 11 pm.

@Janyne, I dont have Mr McDonalds' email/contact info. to send him the link.
Got power back on Timber Acres, Roland and Ironwood last night abt 1am. It was the first day I saw a utility worker on the streets here. There was no wire damage, just lower priority.....! Thanks Janyne for keeping this up and driving it !!

Please add/update your status. It will provide instant feedback to all.

The Hobart Gap Road and White Oak Ridge blinking intersection light has no power, same as my house on that intersection. Other houses got power restored on the same road except us. Hope the crews will come back and not to leave us in the dark any more. We were excited to be told by the crews that the light would be restored last night, but it didn't happen. Very disappointed.

I just checked the JCP&L outage map. The company claims that less than 5 customers in Millburn are without power. Is that possible? There's no power on my end of Slope.

Seems like almost everyone has power. Besides LDSF, who doesn't have power? Don't forget what we just went through! We need real change for the future.

The other side of the intersection on White Oak Ridge still have half down wires but not totally touch the ground. The wire looks like hanging live, so it probably the reason of power not restored. If the blinking light has no power, same as my house. I can't believe that my house is not on the same distribution line along the street on the other side.

A crew came out to our end of Myrtle Ave last night around 1:30am. I spoke with them briefly. They had no idea about when our transformer would be replaced. They were there to wire us into another transformer on our street. They worked for about 20 minutes and we all now have full power! I assume they will replace our transformer at their leisure now, just wanted to clear us off the list.

A couple houses on Northern Drive list power overnight. I called JCP&L and they told me that 250 houses lost power in the township last night and they are all on the same circuit...anyone lose power last night?

Lower half of Knollwood Road lost power overnight. I emailed Mr. Mandel. I suppose that it is relative good news that it may be the same circuit KGC is describing.
