Northern NJ Red Cross Offering Unique Gift Catalog

Presents range from $30-300, can help veterans and others in need.

Instead of shopping at a store, the American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey is offering another suggestion this holiday season: Dedicate presents in the names of your friends and family through the 2011 American Red Cross Giving Catalog that will benefit those in need

A purchase made through the catalog can range from $30-300 and are tax-deductible, but can provide vaccinations for children around the world, hygiene kits for homeless veterans, military comfort kits for wounded warriors, hygiene kits for homeless veterans, and other items to benefit those impacted by local disasters including Hurricane Irene and last month's historic pre-Halloween Nor'easter.

North Jersey residents who donate through the catalog will support the American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey, which serves Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, and Warren counties.

“Looking back on the natural disasters New Jersey has experienced over the past year, giving back to residents in need is especially meaningful this holiday season,” said Ray Shepherd, CEO of the American Red Cross Northern New Jersey. “We encourage people to consider how they can make a huge difference in someone’s life with a small donation.”

With each gift purchased, donors will also receive a free holiday card with an insert that lets friends and family know about the Red Cross gift given in their name. In addition, the Red Cross is providing free gifts for minimum donations of $100 (water bottle), $200 (vintage messenger bag) and $300 (family first aid kit) bearing the organization's logo.

Anyone interested in purchasing a present can do so through the online catalog or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767).
