Patch Tries: Editor Cuts Hair for Locks of Love [VIDEO]
Hair will benefit children with medical hair loss
Hair today, gone tomorrow!
West Orange Patch editor Karen Yi cut 10 inches off her long hair over the weekend for Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that creates hairpieces for children with long-term medical hair loss from donations.
Yi, whose hair nearly reached her lower back, traded her flowing locks for a chic asymmetrical shoulder-length bob. Josephine Castrovinci, who co-owner of Salon Jofi in West Orange, did the honors.

Your hair looks fabulous! And donating the rest proves how fabulous you are on the inside too! xo

That is a wonderful donation. My daughter just sent her hair in as well. As a medical director for a hospice, I can't begin to express how important this gesture is. Thank you again. Linda R. Liotti D.O.

I hate to rain on your parade, but an article in the New York Times several years ago revealed that 80% of the hair donated to this organization is not used. I think your intent was lovely, and it is possible that things have improved since the article was published, but people might want to get more facts before they make a donation to Locks of Love. The Times article can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/06/fashion/06locks.html?pagewanted=all
Hope I'm wrong about this....
