Police Investigate Second Burglary at Downtown Salon

It's the second time in about a month a burglary was reported at Salon D'Or.

Millburn police are investigating a reported burglary at a downtown salon for the second time this year.

Employees at , which is located at 292 Millburn Ave., reported finding broken glass at the rear door of the salon and that cash was taken. The incident was reported at about 6:40 a.m. on Saturday. Police believe the incident took place between 9 p.m. on Friday and the time of the report.

Thefts Reported at Mall

Police investigated three thefts and made one arrest last week at the Mall at Short Hills.

On Friday, the manager at Abercrombie & Fitch reported the theft of 24 bottles of cologne valued at $50 each from a store display. The incident was reported at 3:50 p.m.

Police arrested a 15-year-old from Newark on Wednesday after a report of suspicious activity at Fendi. The teen is accused of concealing three pairs of jeans from Hollister and was charged with shoplifting. The jeans have a combined value of $138.50. The teen's name was not released because of his age.

On Tuesday, the manager at Coach reported the theft of a purse valued at $298. The incident was reported at just after 5 p.m., and police said the theft happened approximately one hour earlier.

Police Make DWI, Drug Arrests After Traffic Stops

Millburn police made three arrests after traffic stops during the last week.

On Thursday, police arrested John J. Molter Jr., 50, of Holmdel, on Millburn Avenue near Spring Street after a traffic stop. Police charged him with driving
while intoxicated and issued summonses for careless driving and failure to produce a registration.

Also on Thursday, police arrested Korah P. Kuruvilla, 58, of East Hanover, after he allegedly drove into a snow bank on Parsonage Hill Road. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued a summons for careless driving.

On Tuesday, police arrested Robert M. Chandler, 24, of Millburn on drug charges after a vehicle stop on Short Hills Avenue.  He is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana. Police also issued him motor vehicle summonses for use of a wireless
telephone in a moving motor vehicle, drug possession by motor vehicle operator and seat belt usage required. Chandler was released pending a court date.

Police Investigate Tomato Throwing Incident

Police are investigating a report of criminal mischief on Cambridge Drive.

A resident reported on Friday afternoon someone threw tomatoes at the house, damaging the exterior of the house. Police believe the incident happened between 8 p.m. on Thursday and 8 a.m. on Friday.
