Several weeks ago, Patch wrote about the frenzy surrounding New York Times bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey at Watchung Booksellers and elsewhere. The continued interest surrounding the steamy trilogy penned by British author E L James has been strong enough to have us wondering what's next.
Now that the movie rights have been sold to Universal Pictures and Focus Features, it was only a matter of time before debates broke out over who should play the main two characters capturing the imaginations of millions of readers around the world.
Already, Deadline.com is reporting that Angelina Jolie could possibly sign on to direct the movie version—so she won't be playing leading lady.
With more than 10 million copies sold so far, the book has been a marketing boon with even the likes of Brooks Brother’s featuring Eight Shades of Grey Ties!
The Huffington Post has put together a list and photo slideshow of candidates for all the story's major players. Did they get it right on Anastasia Steele, the headstrong but naive recent college graduate? What about secretive and complex billionaire businessman Christian Grey, with whom she has an erotic sexual relationship that has female readers swooning over every page?

I cannot see anyone else playing Christian except Collin Egglesfield and Ana should be played by Emmy Rossum. If she had blue contacts, she could not be any better or a pick. She has that shy awkwardness and also that sexy sultry side that Christian brings out in her. I have seen her pictures over and over and she is Anastasia. She has that tousled hair like in the book. I also would love Jay Hernandez to play Jose.

James Scott who plays EJ on Days of our LIves would be an absolutely perfect Christian. He is gorgeous and already plays a rich boy with issues whom we are supposed to not like, but he manages to show a little vulnerability behind the bad. It would also be nice to have someone in this role who is not a big movie actor - someone, not as well known.

The gorgeous guy at the top of these posts is Gaspard Ulliel. He does the Bleu de Chanel tv commercial and you can see a making of it on You Tube as well. He has a wonderful French accent which he'd have to hide but other than that he makes a perfect Christian Grey in my books!
