Public Input Invited for Superintendent Search

A forum is scheduled for Oct. 13.

The Board of Education is seeking the public's involvement in the process to hire a new superintendent by providing information to the search firm it hired.

School officials sent an email to parents and other community members Friday asking them to attend a forum scheduled for Oct. 13 at 8-11 p.m. at the Education Center.

Additionally there is a leadership assessment survey form the firm is asking for parents to fill out, which will help form the leadership profile the firm will present to the school board. An electronic version can be filled out by clicking here. A hard copy of the form is available on the Millburn School District's Web site.

Schools Supt. Richard Brodow announced earlier this year he intends to retire at the end of the 2009-10 school year. He will have served eight years as the district's superintendent.

The Board of Education hired Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to help with the search process. Forums are planned for October with a number of groups, and the new superintendent is expected to be appointed in April.

The letter sent on Friday follows.

Dear Parents and Members of the Millburn Community,

The Millburn Board of Education Superintendent Search Committee will hold a series of Focus Group Meetings in order to assist the search firm retained by the Board in identifying leadership and education characteristics desired in Superintendent candidates.
