Statement

I am running for the Millburn Board of Education because I believe that education of our children is the highest priority any parent can have. The quality of the education a student receives through the end of high school has a far-reaching impact on the rest of his or her life. And I believe I can add value to the Millburn BOE through my experiences as a student, a businessman, an engineer, a professor and as a father. As a West Point graduate, I understand the meaning of service and leadership which I think can strengthen the team work amongst the Board Members, the community, the students, and school administration. As an Adjunct Professor of Statistics at NJIT, I know what challenges students are facing and I understand the impact of a strong educational foundation in a student’s early years. I think one of my greatest assets to the Millburn Board of Education is my role as a Mechanical Engineer where I have worked on dozens of K-12 schools for the New York City School Authority and in New Jersey. I understand capital budgets and carry the expertise of working with various stakeholders, including architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, and contractors. As a Board member, I believe it is critical to understand the impact of any decision on stakeholders (students, teachers, administration, parents, vendors, the community, etc.) and therefore, it is important to think analytically about the issues before us. And finally, as a Board member I hope to represent our community and reflect the voices of my neighbors on issues that matter to all of us as a community.

I want to know what type of Republican - if it's a Romney / Ryan / Freylinghusen type, they clearly don't have the best interest of Public Schools in mind.

I think he's an Abraham Lincoln / Condoleeza Rice / Ronald Reagan type Republican with a bit of 50 Cent and Dwight Eisenhower thrown in there for good measure.
