Current mayor reelected for three more years on the committee, early results say.

Republican Mayor Sandra Haimoff ran unopposed in Tuesday's election for a three-year seat on the Township Committee.

According to early results, the current mayor won and will serve another term, adding on to her nine years on the Township Committee.

Prior to the committee, she was on the Board of Education for 12 years. She has also served on the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Hartshorn Arboretum board, the Environmental commission and was president of the Hartshorn PTA.

With 13 of the 16 districts reporting, unofficial returns:

Since August of 2011, the mayor has spent much of her time dealing with JCP&L and on a multi-town council of mayors who are working together to find ways to remediate flood damage and minimize future flooding.

“Most of it is enjoyable,” Haimoff said in a previous interview. "I like working for the community."

QUESTION: Does her re-election to the township committee mean she will also serve as mayor of the town again or does the township appoint a new township member to become mayor?

I think we lose either way; but I'm curious to know the process.

Not just that, but a LOT of voters at the polls simply didn't cast a vote for her. That says something too.

Does not automatically mean she is mayor. TC reorganizes in January and selects a mayor.

Proud to say I wrote in our former Mayor Dan Baer and I know a few others that did also.

This is what I have to say to the Mayor and TC: If you can't organize a good disaster relief effort yourselves, then please appoint a committee of competent residents.

I hope she will communicate better with the residents of Millburn/Short Hills. (Just follow the example of the current Superintendent of Schools)........

We need a replacement. It has been proven how this job is too much to handle.

What can we do to convince the TC to appoint a new mayor in January?

Sandy Haimoff is an ineffective, poor communicator. SHE IS NOT AN ADVOCATE FOR US.

She is an advocate for drinking hot chocolate at her daughter's home during a black-out though :)

I haven't heard a peep from any of the other members of the Township Committee.

When you are unopposed that is not called winning. This way I can run any number of Marathons, 10 Ks and 5 Ks alone and claim to be a winner.

Do these 3,227 people who voted for her not know that they can also "write in" the votes to anyone but her?!! I have a feeling that is the case. Many people just vote for her because they do not see anyone else's name in the list.
