Seymour's Luncheonette Closes After 52 Years

The Livingston landmark was famous for its Gorilla Burger and milkshakes.

Seymour's Luncheonette in Livingston, which has been serving customers since 1960, has shuttered its doors.

The landmark restaurant, which Patch readers voted as having the best burgers in town, closed last Saturday, according to owner Gary Korn.  Korn says he was forced to close because "not enough people were coming in."

Korn bought the restaurant in March 2007.  Seymour's was a popular after-school hangout for Livingston High School students for many years, with the walls covered with pictures of the high school's multiple sports teams.

Once bristling with patrons, the shelves of the restaurant are now empty.  All of its contents have been tagged and are set to be auctioned off.

After 7+ years of owning the eatery, Korn says he is done with the restaurant business.  He says there are no plans for Seymour's to reopen.

"For the ones who were coming in here, we thank you," Korn said.

Is that the same Gary Korn who has a plumbing business? I know he lives in Livingston.
