ShopRite Pitches in for Autism Awareness Campaign
ShopRite's local contribution will help “Light It Up Blue,” a global effort to raise awareness of autism spectrum disorders
Light It Up Blue, a global autism awareness campaign, is coming to Bloomfield.
Beginning March 25, the Brookdale ShopRite store will be selling “Light It Up Blue” t-shirts for $10, as well as autism “puzzle pieces” for a donation of $1 or $5. All proceeds will go directly to Autism Speaks.
Autism Speaks’ mission is to change the future of all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. A Bloomfield community leader, the Brookdale ShopRite has joined the effort to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders and advocate for needs of individuals with autism, as well their families and caregivers.
Currently in its third year, Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative that helps shine a light on the growing public health concern of autism. On April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day, iconic landmarks around the world, such as the Empire State Building in New York City, the Sydney Opera House in Australia and the Great Buddha at Hyogo in Japan will Light It Up Blue to show their support.
