AP studio art show set for Monday.

This year 24 students completed  and submitted their AP Studio Art portfolios and the work of all of these hard working students will be on display at the Annual AP Art Show at the Millburn High School on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Students enrolled in the AP Studio Art course at Millburn High School work for two years to develop their portfolios. The completed portfolios were submitted to College Board this year on May 6.

During the two year program, the students experienced tremendous growth in their art skills, time management skills, public speaking skills and creative thinking skills and they also bonded as a group working together towards a common goal, said teacher Kathleen Harte Gilsenan.

All 24 images in the portfolio were submitted digitally and each student then chose their five strongest pieces to send to College Board for the "Quality" section of the portfolio.

During the three weeks before the final submission the art room was full of energy and activity as the students learned to mat their work for submission and for the art show, Harte Gilsenan said.  On the final submission date the students all took the “Walk of Victory” as they proudly carried their completed portfolios to the main office.

The public is invited to view the art at the exhibit in the Cafeteria Gallery of the Millburn High School.   The accomplished seniors enrolled in the Art Consortium course will also have their work on display during the exhibit.
