Sunday's thunderstorms caused some flooding in the South Mountain section and temporary street closures.

Police Capt. James Miller, public information officer, said there were no reports of power outages in Millburn-Short Hills.

A severe thunderstorm moved through Millburn-Short Hills around 6 p.m. Sunday, bringing with it heavy rain, lightning and hail. There were reports the hail was the size of a golf ball. Andrew Fingerman caught the hail on video, which you can see by clicking here.

Miller said there were some temporary street closures on Sunday night, but everything was re-opened fairly quickly.

A fire department report stated there were several phone calls about water flooding the streets in the Greenwood Drive area of the South Mountain section of town. Water had backed up at Greenwood's intersections with Undercliff Road and Ivy Terrace, but the water receded rapidly once the rain stopped.

Additionally, the report states, there were no signs of area properties flooding.

Firefighters also responded to the intersection of Ridgewood Road and Edgewood just before 8:30 p.m. for a report of downed wires. A branch fell across the telephone wires, which firefighters had difficulty freeing from the wires, a department report stated. Firefighters reattached the wire to the pole and notified the telephone company.
