Wendel the Wonder Dog is not only a caped crusader. He's also a Top Dog.

Wendel, an Italian Greyhound mixed-breed dog, was found as a stray with his brother, Preston, when he was four months old.

The pup was named Patch's Top Dog after making it through two rounds of voting in our contest.

We asked users to submit photos of their dogs on participating sites, then vote for their favorites. Wendel received 42 votes on Long Valley Patch and the most votes in our regional round on all participating sites.

Wendel is pictured in a pint-sized Batman costume, showing a facial expression like he is more than ready to fight crime-or take a nap.

According to the user who submitted the photo of Wendel, Justin Hardin, the pooch is "the happiest dog you will ever meet."

As the winner, Wendel will receive a $250 gift card for a weekend stay at the Morris Animal Inn.
