Trick-or-Treaters Visit Zoo for Howl-O-Ween
The county expected 4,000 kids to come to the zoo to celebrate Halloween Sunday night.
Thousands of kids visited Turtle Back Zoo Sunday night for Essex County's three-hour "Howl-O-Ween" event.
Dr. Jeremy Goodman, the zoo's director, said more than a ton of candy was purchased for the event. There were numerous candy stations staffed by Seton Hall University students throughout the zoo for kids to trick-or-treat. Goodman said one of the new initiatives this year was a "green" Halloween where a number of the candy stations offered healthy alternatives to traditional snacks.
