West Orange Man Charged with DWI After Two Crashes

Police charged him with a car crash at the corner of Wyoming and Millburn avenues and a second at the corner of Millburn Avenue and Main Street.

 

Police arrested a West Orange man on drunken driving charges after two car crashes on Millburn Avenue on Monday night.

Pavel Shevchenko, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated and was issued summonses for reckless driving, careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

At about 11:20 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle at the intersection of Millburn and Wyoming Avenues. Police said the responding officer the car had significant damage and had struck a guard rail. Officers arrested Shevchenko at the scene of the crash.

Then officers located a second crash at 341 Millburn Ave., which is Gito at the corner of Main Street and Millburn Avenue, police said. The window to the store was shattered and a street sign, a temporary metal traffic barrier and trash can had been struck and damaged. Shevchenko was charged for the second crash after officers found a license plate belonging to his car at the scene, police said.
