Whiz Kid: Luke Robinson

Budding artist, musician, actor and just a little bit cheesy.

Millburn resident Mark Robinson didn't really think about it when his youngest son Luke, handed him a large envelope addressed to the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and asked him to please add postage and mail it for him.

He was surprised however to receive a call some time later while walking from his office at Warner Brothers in New York.

"A voice asked if I was Mark Robinson, and I said yes and then they asked if I had a son named Luke,"  Robinson recalls.  "I was a bit concerned and asked what it was about and they told me he had won the contest to invent a new WWE pay-per-view event and design it's logo."

Luke had read about the contest in the December issue of the magazine and decided to enter.  His concept for the contest was Night of Cheese.

"I love cheese, and wrestling," the Wyoming School 2nd grader said shrugging his shoulders. Both Luke and his older brother Zack, a sixth grader at Millburn Middle School are big wrestling fans and subscribe to the WWE Kids magazine.   His decision to combine his love of cheese and wrestling won him a piece of a WWE ring, as well as a professional proof of the final version of his design for framing.

"For the last couple of years he's really gotten into art," mom Melissa said. "He can spend hours at a time just drawing."

According to his dad, Luke didn't realize what a big deal it was to win this contest.  "He said of course I won, didn't everyone?"  Mark said.  "We had to explain that no, he was the winner  of the national contest.   I don't think it was until he saw the proof of the magazine and was interviewed by them, that he caught on."

Luke's brush with fame doesn't end there.  He recently appeared in an anti-bullying PSA featuring hip hop artists New Boyz.  He was recruited while visiting his dad at his office.  "It was fun," he said. "I'd like to do that again."

Luke also loves to play guitar, citing Aerosmith as his favorite band, and wants to be a guitarist when he grows up.  Barring that, he'd like to be a cartoonist.
