Losing A Pet
Our dog went missing a few days ago. She's a puppy we rescued from a shelter back over the summer. A gorgeous, sweet, loving dog with soft gray fur and a super friendly personality.
We adopted Booty in the hopes that she'd keep our older dog Sammy company. That they'd run and play and have each other as companions when my boys and I weren't home. Booty was all that and so much more. It took Sammy a couple of weeks to adjust to the new puppy. It took the rest of us but a few minutes. It was truly love at first sight.
What I don't think any of us realized is just how incredibly painful it would be when she disappeared late Monday afternoon. We called the police and animal control, canvassed the neighborhood, searched the reservation endlessly, put up posters, called all the nearby vets and shelters, posted on Facebook. You name it we've tried it. My boys and I have been walking around in a fog for the past few days waiting for this nightmare to end. Hoping for a Disney ending when Booty comes running over the hill and we grab hold of her in our arms.
A dog is an incredible animal. So loyal and loving. So undemanding and so giving. They bring so much love into a home. Their warmth and affection is so sweet and innocent. Unfortunately, the flip side of all they offer, of all that intense love is the extreme pain of losing them. I pray we find her, I pray she's okay.

Ofer, I am so sad for you! I'm usually contacted when someone is missing a cat and have had some success helping find them. Over the years I have come across a few dogs that have strayed but I haven't seen Booty. I promise to keep my eyes wide open and will put the word out. (I'm the one who found your turtle crossing Hartshorn in 2003.) :o(

Hi Shermann, I am going through this right now with a cat my son brought home for the holidays that went missing Fri. eve from Roseland ave. in Essex fells. He is White with black markings med. sized 4mos. old. Any tips on how to find him?

Ofer ... Will keep my eyes opened for your sweet puppy. Our new family member entered our lives in February after my son really and truly rescued him from a lake. It's been a very rewarding experience. I wish you all happiness once again very soon when Booty comes back home. Fenced in yard or not, long leads or not, making sure doors are shut or not, animals have a knack for exploration and will quietly take advantage of the opportunity.

You should try "FindToto.com" They will send out phone alerts to all of your neighbors with a description of Booty and your contact info. Hope this works. I don't know where in town you reside, but my family and I will also keep a lookout for your beloved dog. Good luck!
