HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH YOUR TEENS AND PRE-TEENS, a presentation sponsored by Jewish Family Service of MetroWest in partnership with Millburn Municipal Alliance Committee (MMAC), will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Millburn Public Library.

Your ability to influence your teen or preteen depends on knowing what is happening in their lives. Learn strategies for becoming the kind of parent your child wants to talk to. Explore ways of talking without over or under reacting. Examine how to create a “no-blame” household. Facilitated by Beth Sandweiss, MSW.

Questions? Contact Sylvia Heller, MPH, Coordinator of Community Programming at 973-765-9050 ext. 1708.

Workshop is free and open to the entire community – Registration required: please contact sheller@jfsmetrowest@org. Program is co-sponsored by MMAC, M-SPEC, and funded with support from United Way of M/SH.

The Millburn Free Public Library has a large collection of books and also has space for people to do work. Students can be seen in the library every afternoon doing homework or working with a tutor. There are several Internet stations in the library and free wireless access. The number of outlets, however, is limited. People are encouraged to come to the library with a fully charged battery. The children's section is fully stocked and has other activities for children. There's an area reserved for young adult readers. Additionally there are community rooms on the second floor open for various events. The Friends of the Library sponsor a number of events each month.
