Essex County CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, will be holding an informational meeting on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Millburn Public Library, 200 Glen Ave., Millburn, NJ.
Attendees can learn how they can help improve the lives of abused and neglected children in foster care as a volunteer Advocate. Court Appointed Special Advocates are volunteers appointed by Family Court to gather information about a child’s needs while in foster care and to represent a “child’s voice in court”.
The meeting will present the scope of the problem in Essex County and how a CASA Advocate’s response can make a difference to the experience of foster children.

More About Millburn Free Public Library
The Millburn Free Public Library has a large collection of books and also has space for people to do work. Students can be seen in the library every afternoon doing homework or working with a tutor. There are several Internet stations in the library and free wireless access. The number of outlets, however, is limited. People are encouraged to come to the library with a fully charged battery. The children's section is fully stocked and has other activities for children. There's an area reserved for young adult readers. Additionally there are community rooms on the second floor open for various events. The Friends of the Library sponsor a number of events each month.
