St. Rose of Lima Academy Grade 3

Mrs. Flamio's Third Grade class at St Rose of lima Academy has finished reading the book entitled Treasure Hunters, by award winning author, James Patterson. Students were asked to practice their summarizing skills by completing an independent project to demonstrate their knowledge of the sequence of events in this book. Students were given guidelines to complete a Power Point Presentation or a poster/ index card presentation to explain the events of the book in their own words, as creatively as possible. Some students used their artistic talents to draw pictures of the characters, events, and places of interest in the story.  Other students applied what they have learned this year using PowerPoint, to design slides using different media. Third graders develop oral speaking skills in front of an audience, apply what they have learned about reading and comprehension, and get the opportunity to incorporate technology into their presentations. Students enjoyed reading about the Kidd family of treasure hunters involved with the CIA. The Kidd family went on many adventures looking for treasures, and trying to save their mom in this exciting story. Be on the look out for a follow up book coming out soon, as the Kidd family sails off on their for their next adventure on The Lost to Solomon's Mines in South Africa.
