The Calais School's Program for Pre-School Handicapped Children is Accepting Applications

Whippany, NJ-  The Calais School’s Pre-School Program is a New Jersey Department of Education approved private pre-school handicapped program in Morris County and is one of just a few of its kind.  The program offers a choice of either full-day or half-day sessions designed for children with multiple learning disabilities. The program has been developed for children ages 3 to 5 and provides them with a safe, nurturing and academically challenging environment to work on individual goals. Academic, emotional and behavioral supports are provided to aid the transition into Kindergarten. In most cases, tuition for the program is paid for by the student’s sending school district, with no direct cost to parents.

“Many parents often feel hopeless because they cannot find a school to meet the academic and social needs of their child,” states Dr. Diane Manno, Principal of The Calais School, “By having a pre-school program that starts at age 3, we can provide a continuum of service that builds on the child’s early intervention services.  As a result of attending a special education pre-school program, the child will gain the academic and social skills necessary to return to the mainstream program in their home district.”
