A long-time community volunteer and former president of the Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society -- David Siegfried -- will be honored with the township's Community Service Award at the Township Committee meeting Tuesday night.
The award is presented by the Millburn Township's Community Service Award Committee, whose mission it is to publicly acknowledge the gratitude of the community for the hard work of volunteers who have demonstrated an outgoing commitment to maintenance of the quality of life in Millburn Township, through their efforts and creativity.
Approximately 2 to 4 times a year, the Community Service Committee nominates an individual for an award, to be presented at select township committee meetings. On Tuesday, April 17, at 8 p.m., the committee will present the award to resident David Siegfried, for his many contributions to the township.
Among his services to the community, David Siegfried worked in numerous capacities, including president, on the board of the Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society for close to 20 years, on the Historic Preservation Commission for eight years, the Veterans' Recognition Committee, as a trustee, committee head, tutor for Community Congregational Church, as a trustee and officer of the Community Agencies Corp. of New Jersey, and much more. Friends, family and community members are invited to join the Community Service Award Committee in extending the thanks of Millburn residents at the April 17 meeting.
