Free Rabies Clinic for Cats, Dogs is May 1

Event scheduled for Millburn residents.

Millburn will host a free rabies clinic for township residents on Thursday, May 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Millburn Fire Headquarters located at 459 Essex St.

According to the township website: "A recent clarification by the NJ State Department of Health regarding the rabies vaccination prerequisite for pet licensing now stipulates that the duration of immunity must be valid for the entire period for which the license is issued.  An expiration of the vaccine any time during 2014 would cause problems with your pet's 2014 license renewal.

Despite the legal three year duration of immunity for the rabies vaccine after the second does, residents are encouraged to have their pet vaccinated every two years to receive optimal protection and avoid expiration."
