Meet Recently Elected Millburn BOE Member: Raymond Wong

A Q&A session with new school board member Raymond Wong

Raymond Wong was among two newcomers elected to Millburn's Board of Education last week. Patch sat down with Wong recently to chat about what he plans to accomplish during his upcoming tenure on the school board.

Patch: Now that you've been elected, what is your first priority?

My first priority is to meet with current BOE members, administration members and parents from the community.

Patch: What do you hope to accomplish on the Board of Education?

I hope to bring educational experience as well as my professional experience in management, finance, and engineering to help the Millburn BOE over the next three years.  I look to facilitating a greater level of communication between the Board and the community.  I also aim to raise our school rankings.

Patch: What did you do when you found out you won?

I contacted each candidate who ran and congratulated them for running good, honest campaigns.  I also thanked my wife for her continued support and hard work as my campaign manager.

Patch: What would you like to the say to the community?

I appreciate the opportunity to serve our community and I look forward to working with our educators, current BOE members, administration, and parents to achieve our goals.

Patch: Tell the community something about yourself that you think is important.

My family and I are proud to be citizens of  Millburn and I hope to play a small part in making our community better for our children and for all of us.  And as I mentioned during the forums, I want the community to feel free to reach out to me to discuss any issue.
