Metropolitan Orchestra to Perform Winter Concert Sunday

Orchestra will celebrate 40th season at concert at Hartshorn School.

The Metropolitan Orchestra of New Jersey, celebrating its 40th season, will perform in a winter concert on Sunday, March 4, featuring the music of Charles Camille Saint-Saëns and Robert Schumann.

The concert will take place at the Hartshorn Elementary School, 400 Hartshorn Drive, beginning at 3 p.m.

Featured music will include Saint-Saëns’ “March Militaire Francaise (Suite Algerienne Op. 60, IV)” as well as “Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33,” featuring guest artist Leo Grinhauz of Maplewood.

After a short intermission, the orchestra will perform Schumann’s “Symphony No. 1 in B flat major, Op. 38 ('Spring').”

Since 2010, Leo Grinhauz has been principal cellist with The Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. With them, Grinhauz has toured the world and performed with renowned resident soloist Gabriela Imreh.

As a Musical Coordinator, Grinhauz has also been contracting the musicians on Nickelodeon's The Wonder Pets. After garnering numerous Emmy Awards, the show continues it's success in syndication.

As a cellist on Broadway, Leo has worked in many shows, including Jane Eyre, The Producers, Legally Blonde, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera and Showboat, to name a few. He also teaches private cello lessons and coaches chamber music.
