Millburn Resident to Perform with Metropolitan Orchestra

Soprano Tamara Tsoutsouris will join Metropolitan Orchestra of New Jersey Sunday afternoon.

The Metropolitan Orchestra of New Jersey welcomes soprano Tamara Tsoutsouris as guest artist in the opening concert of the orchestra's 41st season.

The orchestra and Tsoutsouris will perform sections of Dvořák vocal pieces at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Millburn High School Auditorium, 462 Millburn Ave.

Tsoutsouris, a resident of Millburn, earned an MS Degree in Opera Performance from Northwestern University. She has performed with opera companies across the United States and internationally including the Teatro de la Maestranza in Spain, and the State Repertory Opera of New Jersey.

Tsoutsouris has performed include the Orquestra Sinfonica Portuguesa in Lisbon, the Knoxville Symphony, the orchestra of Opera Ontario, the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Florida Philharmonic, the Long Island Philharmonic, the Summit Symphony and the Staten Island Symphony. Her orchestral repertoire has featured Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Exsultate Jubilate, Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, andRespighi’s Il Tramonto. She has also performed the world premiere of Ronn Yedidia’s Siddur Suite in New York City. Ms. Tsoutsouris’s operatic repertoire has included the roles of Mimi and Musetta (La Boheme), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Marguerite (Faust), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) and the title roles in Madama ButterflyTosca, and Manon, among others.Recent engagements include appearances with the Summit Symphony, the Yonkers Philharmonic, and Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway and Broadway Pops Int'l. with the Florida Sunshine Pops.

The orchestra and Tsoutsouris will perform the following Dvořák vocal selections: Songs My Mother Taught Me, Op. 55 #4; Biblical Songs, Op. 99; and Song to the Moon (from Rusalka). The afternoon’s all-Dvořák program, under the direction of Maestro Michael Stratechuk, will include the orchestra’s performance of:Symphony #7; and selections from Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances.
