Pink Celebration for Komen Race

NBC reporter Pat Battle leads throngs of runners and survivors at the annual event.

Thousands of runners and walkers showed up at South Mountain Reservation this weekend - among them breast cancer survivor and television personality Pat Battle - to take part in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The annual run, which draws participants from all over the New York metropolitan area, raises thousands of dollars to fight cancer, particularly for women. Cancer survivors were honored at the race and the mood was alternately jubilant and emotional as the women and their accomplishments were recognized.

Besides running the race, visitors could visit numerous booths, take home souveniers, and listen to music, and take part in zumba dancing. Despite the off and on showers over the weekend, Sunday's weather cooperated for the runners and walkers.
