Two Essex Towns Make Best List for Renters Raising Families

Low crime rates, high school scores, high percentage of family households and high rental inventory criteria for list.

A pair of Essex County towns made the rent.com top 25 list of best cities for renters raising families.

The website looked at cities with low crime rates, high school scores, high percentage of family households and high rental inventory.

Millburn placed fourth on the list of cities:

“An affluent municipality home to a large number of doctors, lawyers and professionals connected to New York City’s financial industries, Millburn is known for its proximity to the Mall at Short Hills and its 36-acre Gero Park.”

“This New Jersey Township, located 27 miles from Manhattan, takes the “Garden State” to heart with its 600 acres of parkland, including the 65-acre Memorial Park in the center of town. Even all of its schools are built in the middle of parks!”

Other New Jersey towns on the list include: Scotch Plains, River Edge, New Providence, Westfield, Ridgewood and Tenafly.

Rent.com assembled the top 25 cities list with New York based Onboard Informatics a data and technology company. The list is based on cities and towns with a concentration of family households greater than 70 percent, population greater than 10,000 and a median household income of $50,000 or more, according to rent.com
